Ophtha Innovation Challenge: transforming retinal care through innovation

Ophthalmology

The Ophtha Innovation Challenge fosters creativity and novel solutions to address specific challenges within the field of ophthalmology.

The challenge aims to bridge critical information gaps in the treatment of chronic retinal diseases, such as Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Diabetic Macular Edema (DME). We are seeking innovative solutions that address these gaps for patients, caregivers, and physicians, to enhance patient outcomes and improve overall disease management.

The unmet need

The chronic nature and need for continuing, long-term treatment of retinal diseases like AMD and DME have resulted in critical information gaps across stakeholders.

For patients, this can be a lack of knowledge of how to live with and self-manage their retinal disease.

For caregivers, this can be unknown around how best to care for a loved one with chronic retinal conditions.

For physicians, this can be challenges with accessing centralized treatment outcome data and information, leading to gaps in patients' treatment journey.

With recent advances in science and technology, Roche’s Ophthalmology Network believes there are opportunities to better address the respective challenges experienced by patient groups, caregivers and physicians, and are committed to improving care through healthcare innovation.

If you have innovative ideas to address information gaps in retinal disease management, we'd love to hear from you!
