LiFE: Leading Innovation for the Future Ecosystem in Haemophilia

Decorative illustration

At Roche, our vision is a haemophilia free life for all. Achieving this requires commitment and partnership with the haemophilia A community. LiFE is a global strategic partnership program from Roche supporting initiatives that aim to address important gaps in the care of people living with Haemophilia A.

LiFE aims to support clinicians, researchers, healthcare organisations, and multidisciplinary teams working to improve outcomes for people living with Haemophilia A.

Objectives

  • Improve evidence infrastructure and outcomes measurement by advancing the development, harmonisation of novel patient-centered endpoints and registries

  • Build specialised capability and multidisciplinary workforce expertise to prepare health systems to integrate innovative therapeutic platforms into routine practice.

  • Translate scientific innovation into daily clinical practice by deploying practical clinical tools, decision-support frameworks, and coordinated care delivery pathways that optimise daily patient management

Areas of Focus

LiFE supports projects in three priority areas.

Eligibility and Participation

We encourage applications from:

  • Haemophilia treatment centers

  • Healthcare institutions and organisations

  • Academic and research institutions

  • Research networks and collaborative groups

Multi-stakeholder collaborations initiatives are encouraged.

Applications must be submitted by legal entities.

Funding and Duration

LiFE has an expected duration of three years. During this time, it will support projects through different funding mechanisms, including grants, sponsorships, consortia  and partnerships.

Funding will be distributed across 3 tiers:

  • Tier 1: Up to 75,000 CHF for small, local projects or pilot initiatives

  • Tier 2: Up to 150,000 CHF for medium sized projects or multicenter initiatives

  • Tier 3: Up to 300,000 CHF for multistakeholder or highly scalable initiatives

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals must demonstrate viability across all five of these core areas to proceed to final funding consideration:

  • Strategic Alignment and Scientific Merit
How clearly does the proposal align with one or more of the three LiFE priority areas (Data & Evidence Infrastructure, Education & Workforce Capability, or Guidance & Practical Tools)? Is the underlying scientific, clinical, or structural rationale robust and evidence-based?

  • Expected Outcomes and Success Metrics
Does the initiative have a clear, realistic plan to measurably improve evidence infrastructure, patient outcomes measurement, workforce capacity, or daily clinical care delivery? Are project milestones achievable, and are success measures defined using objective, quantifiable KPIs?

  • Unmet Need and Differentiation
Does the project address a highly significant, documented structural gap in Haemophilia A care? Does it offer a unique, differentiated approach that avoids duplicating existing public registries, standardised educational platforms, or academic tools?

  • Feasibility, Execution, and Budget
Is the project plan realistic, well-structured, and achievable within the proposed timeline and resources? Is the requested budget transparent, fully itemised, and appropriate for the scale of the proposed activities?

  • Project Personnel
Does the project team and host organization possess the necessary clinical, academic, or research experience and administrative capability to execute the project successfully?

While not mandatory, the following criteria are desirable:

  • Multi-Stakeholder Value
Does the initiative encourage meaningful collaboration across the haemophilia ecosystem by involving multidisciplinary partners?

  • Scalability
Can the tools, educational curricula, or data frameworks developed in this project be easily expanded, adapted, or replicated across other global markets to maximise systemic impact?

  • Sustainability
Does the proposal outline a credible long-term plan for the initiative to be sustained beyond the initial Roche funding period without ongoing financial dependence?

Submission Process

LIFE accepts proposals through two submission cycles each year that will be published on this website.

Funding is subject to appropriate legal and compliance review and we may not be able to fund certain types of initiatives in all countries. To ensure alignment with local laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, applicants are encouraged to liaise with their local Roche point of contact before submission.

The current submission cycle is open until end of July 2026

Please submit proposals to: global.lifeprogram@roche.com

Applicants will be asked to submit the following materials:

Governance & Legal Framework

LiFE is overseen through an internal governance process involving cross-functional review from medical, scientific, operational, legal, and compliance representatives. All proposals undergo review before funding decisions are made. Roche reserves the right to decline any request that does not meet the applicable criteria. An applicable contract will be signed between Roche and the organization for all funding related to LiFE.
