The global impact of brain disorders

Our personalities, our skills, our relationships and our passions all depend on the wellbeing of our brain. But when it comes to brain health and neurological conditions, one of the biggest challenges is that so little is known about the magnitude of these disorders globally.

As part of our commitment in neuroscience, we are working with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), as a founding member of theto develop a holistic view of the current and future burden of brain and nervous system disorders globally.

A step in this process was the development of the Brain Health Atlas to visualise the global burden of brain disorders over time and geographies, and to improve our understanding of the challenge ahead and of the resources needed to drive policy change. Explore our Brain Health Atlas infographic below for a summary of key statistics on the socioeconomic impact of brain disorders on individuals and society.

With robust data on the health and economic impact, we can unlock the full value of innovation and improve the lives of people living with these conditions.
