On the banks of the Schuylkill River, Roche Innovation Center Philadelphia (RICP) is home to more than 300 people, including gene therapy experts working alongside colleagues in Pharma Technical, Pharma Development, US Commercial, and Roche Group functions. Roche’s footprint in Philadelphia features manufacturing and logistics, extensive lab capabilities, and office space spanning multiple buildings in the city’s vibrant University City neighborhood. University City is also home to the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and numerous biotech companies and incubators.
The site was originally home to Spark Therapeutics which the Roche Group acquired in 2019.
RICP is building on the legacy of the first FDA approved gene therapy which was developed, is still manufactured on site, and is now launched in 50+ countries worldwide. Ongoing research continues to shape the state of the art in the field of gene therapy, alongside investments to strengthen our manufacturing footprint in the region with the construction of the Gene Therapy Innovation Center.
