Our site in Penzberg is located in the south of Germany between Munich and the Alps and is the second largest site in Germany. Moreover, we are known to be the biggest biotech location in Europe, and the largest employer in the Bavarian region of Oberland.
The site in Penzberg opened in 1972 and with great joy we will celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2022. Today we employ around 7,000 from 71 different nations on our 434.000 m/2 site.
With a focus on therapeutic proteins, Roche in Penzberg is a globally important manufacturing center for diagnostic tests, analytical systems, and biopharmaceuticals.
Sustainability is a top priority for us, which is why we constantly review our development and production processes for high standards of environmental protection and climate neutrality. We proactively implement new sustainable technologies and processes to reduce our impact on the environment, and we also have an on-site wastewater treatment facility.
