Software engineering – every line of code matters.
From an external point of view, software might not seem to bring as much value in the medical field as instruments, tests and reagents. However, every line of code I write is helping to diagnose and to treat someone out there, bringing them hope, knowing that their diseases and problems are identified and treated. It's an important part of the systems being developed by Roche. One that will grow over the upcoming years as concepts like artificial intelligence keep shaping the world.

After the Matura, the Swiss form of high school, I attended ETH Zurich and graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in the field of robotics. That’s right, a mechanical engineer working as a software developer!

Meet Christoph
I work at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz and live in Arth, which gives me a very short commute, something I have come to appreciate very much compared to earlier jobs. The Rotkreuz site has grown extremely fast in the last years and therefore, many new and modern offices and production buildings have been built.

Meet Thomas
My name is Thomas Blättler, I am married and have a one year old son. In my spare time I love to spend time with my little family and friends and to be out in the nature with skis, a mountain bike or hiking boots. This year on April 1st I celebrated my fifth anniversary at Roche Diagnostics. Time flies by. I joined Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz (Switzerland) right after finishing my PhD. The first one and a half years I was Consumables Project Leader before I was given the opportunity to build up and lead the Consumables Development department. Since January I am now heading Development Project Leaders of instrument projects for diagnostic systems.

My name is Agata Bres. I come from the beautiful Masuria area of Poland, which is famous for its 2,000 lakes. I lived there until graduating with a bachelor 0019s degree in computer science. I subsequently earned a master 0019s degree in software engineering in Germany. I started my professional career at Siemens Healthcare in Bavaria, where I had a pleasure of assisting in the development of a software product used in the treatment of cancer patients. This experience gave me the opportunity to improve both my personal and professional skills. In February 2012, after spending seven years at Siemens, I decided to move to Switzerland to start a new chapter in my life. I began to work for Roche Diagnostics.
