Online community expanded to support more cancer patients

Pioneering website now provides support for people with blood cancer

Pioneering Healthcare, a Roche online resource for cancer patients, has been expanded to provide information and a community platform for people affected by blood cancer, in particular acute myeloid leukaemia.

The Pioneering Hematology section of the website joins Pioneering Lung Cancer as a trusted information source and online community. Visitors can find information, which has been reviewed by healthcare professionals, and share questions and comments with other visitors in a safe and welcoming environment.

A community manager ensures that everything adheres to the community standards of politeness, care and consideration. For cancer patients in the US, the site is also a useful one-stop-shop for information about current and future clinical trials in advanced cancers, including those in which they could potentially participate.

Pioneering Lung Cancer was launched in early 2014, offering support for patients, their family members and friends. Since its start, the website has continued to grow in terms of content and community membership.

A peer-review publication about the development of Pioneering Healthcare is published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. The publication, “Patient Recruitment 2.0: Become a Partner in the Patient Journey Using Digital Media,” attracted attention on social media including mention on Twitter by a highly active patient advocate.
