As a part of the Diabetes Care Legal team, you will be part of a global network of legal professionals who support all aspects of product strategy, development, manufacturing, marketing and sales for Roche Diabetes Care.  This role’s primary responsibility involves supporting research and development, digital products and partnering. 

To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to assess and anticipate legal and business risks associated with complex projects and also possess a strong aptitude for learning new areas of law as well as new science and technologies.  You should be able to communicate well-reasoned recommendations to senior executives and business stakeholders clearly and concisely.  You should be comfortable with calibrating and advising on acceptable levels of risk commensurate with broader business objectives.  You will be expected to structure, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements and develop and recommend innovative solutions to complex legal and business areas.   You are open to new ideas and question conventional thought patterns.  You appreciate working in a performance-oriented environment that is based on mutual respect, trust and collaboration. 

The Opportunity:

  • Act as a lead counsel to RDC as an embedded strategic legal partner.  

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including co-development agreements, technology permits/licenses, software development agreements, supply agreements, research agreements and service agreements

  • Review and keep business management informed of legal developments in area of specialization.

  • Interact with colleagues across Roche to determine compliant yet practical legal responses and planning to meet business needs

Who you are:

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence from an ABA-accredited law school, licensed to practice law in one or more of the 50 states.

  • 8 years’ experience practicing law at a large- to medium-sized law firm or within a corporate law department; practice must include area of specialization.


  • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating contracts

  • Excellent knowledge of  U.S. privacy laws, IT and data protection law, and good knowledge of the Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act

  • Strong team orientation and purpose driven

  • Hands-on mentality and pragmatic: able to look at the big picture while not losing sight of the details

  • Able to communicate clearly, convincingly and diplomatically orally and in writing

  • Passionate to work with people from many cultures and backgrounds
