Principal Project Manager
This position in PTI (PT Innovation, Technology & MSAT) provides strategic and tactical business support to the PT Digital Transformation (PT.DT) Focus Area and its associated initiatives. In this role you will collaborate and partner with one of our senior leaders within PT associated teams to facilitate large-scale, systemic change for DT. This will include analysis of strategy, organizational, culture, leadership, capabilities, and operational (i.e. structures, processes, and systems) to determine appropriate interventions to drive DT value generation. She/he will “Show what is possible” through digital transformation strategy and implementation by fully immersing in program oversight, process visualization, data collection, draw insight from analysis, and then zoom out to develop compelling, synthesized recommendations. This Project Manager will also persuasively communicate recommendations to senior leaders, then take an active role in driving implementation, and check back-in to see the impact of her/his recommendations/implementations of key business processes. The position is based in SSF and will report to the Head of PTIS Business Operations in the US.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Contribute to shaping practices to support digital transformation in PT to enable 3 - 5 more benefit for patients at 50% cost to society
Proactively identify and drive project and resource priorities that align with the business objectives.
Be nimble and adaptive at grasping Digital Transformation complexities as well as how to navigate and steer decisions and actions to address Volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) in the realm of Digital Transformation.
Identify ways to accelerate the project execution where possible while maintaining high quality standards.
Thought partner supporting the PT. DT leader and program manager with ideas how to operationalize their vision including organizational change management
Lead project management activities for PT.DT and support other workstreams as needed including matrix teams
Liaise with stakeholder in and outside of the organization to support knowledge sharing and expand and engage a network of change agents in the organization
Identify and engage stakeholders, including collecting stakeholder feedback through voice of the customer interviews or surveys as needed
Project management / workshop leadership where needed
Facilitate and lead effective project meetings and workshops, including design of workshop, meeting minutes, identify action items and meeting follow-ups
Create and manage documentation repositories and databases (e.g. gDrive, Sharepoint). Identify other tools and technologies to support the focus area
Develop and drive integrated project plans, aligning project tactics with network strategy
Develop and track resource planning estimates and project budget
Support PT.DT leader and teams in creating transparency and sharing organizational learnings around digital transformation efforts
Manage focus area internal and external communication plans in collaboration with program manager
Potential for presenting to executive management
Minimum: BS/BA in life science, engineering, business or relevant experience
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
Minimum 10+ years of effective project/program managements experience in biotechnology, medical / combination device and/or pharmaceutical operations groups and/or digital transformation in a regulated field
Familiarity with drug and/or medical device development process through Health Authority approval (preferred)
Excellent organizational skills
Strong written / oral communication, facilitation and presentation skills
Proven ability to create strong working relationships with respect to cultural diversity and working styles
Demonstrates effective decision-making and the ability to identify issues requiring appropriate escalation
Demonstrated ability to organize, lead, and execute on a variety of assignments and action plans; demonstrated ability to drive for results and manage projects working independently and with teams
Ability to translate complex concepts into actionable, measurable tasks
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing environments
In depth understanding of Agile, Scaling Agile, and associated change management:
Enables a diverse group of partners to speak with a single voice
Ensures the right information is available to the development team in the right level of detail at the right time so that the product can be developed and matches customers needs
Experience in IT, automation, digitalization, digital transformation is preferable
Fundamental understanding of cloud providers (eg. GCP, AWS)
Systems understanding of Jira, Trello, Smartsheet and/or similar tools
Systems thinking and awareness and navigating a complex Global organization
Excellent collaborative and networking skills to build strong partnerships, in order to bring different functions and stakeholders together. Inspires trust and respect.

Skilled at partnering within cross-functional teams; has experience leading and influencing both with and without authority
Flexible and ability to travel internationally, as required (up to ~10%)
Fluent in English, proficiency in German (optional)
This role can be based out of our South San Francisco or Basel Headquarters.
