The Strategy & Customer Solutions (SCS) team within RDC is responsible for the development and evolution of the overall Business Unit Strategy, the identification of growth opportunities and the initiation and implementation of new solutions developments, the management of the existing product portfolio and the provision of global marketing services to regions and affiliates. Within the SCS team, we are currently recruiting a Portfolio Manager.
As a Portfolio Manager with the Portfolio Management and Business Analytics (PM&BA) team, you will develop portfolio strategies, tools and tactics to drive growth, profitability, and predictability for the Diabetes Care Business Unit.
Your primary accountability will be to support the management of the End to End Innovation Process (E2E) to bring structure and discipline to the pre-development project review and approval process. You will track the opportunity and development portfolio through stage gate process, concept phase and approval of development readiness. In doing so you will support the in-market solution development through business case reviews as well as ongoing evaluations. You will work with local and global departments (i.e. Global Market Insights, Franchise Teams, Regulatory, Market Access, Finance, R&D and others ) to manage and support programs to ensure success of the portfolio in the market. You will ensure need-solution fit, technical readiness, and business viability of proposed solutions and strategies are rigorously challenged in order to improve project selection, fast failures, and stronger portfolios.
In addition, you will manage and/or support the bi-annual Portfolio Strategy process and contribute to the annual budgeting process. You will coordinate with relevant sub-teams of SCS, R&D, Medical and Finance regarding project and strategy readiness for review meetings. Your accountabilities include supporting the Strategic Customer Solutions Leadership Team (SCS LT) in evaluating investment opportunities, improving our Business Unit innovation process and supporting product creation, launch, marketing and sales. In addition you will support the in market solution evaluation and ongoing business reviews of the solution development pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement, evolve and support the E2E for PPC decision making and DPC support
Prepare the SCS LT discussions strategic direction per segment and the areas of focus
Support streamlined portfolio status, reporting and interdependencies of different solutions, programs and initiatives across the portfolio.
Work with International Business Leader (IBL), Solution Development managers (SDM), and Franchise teams as well as key support functions to ensure submissions adhere to predetermined requirements and quality standards for gate approval consideration.
Ensure, support, and evolve the KPI harmonization and insights across the portfolio initiatives and development pipeline.
Develop and maintain relationships with key support functions of the E2E process.
Work with the GPO PPM Services Manager to implement, evolve and manage the capture of E2E information for the purposes of R&D resource planning.
Participate in the Business Units strategy development and specifically lead the identification and articulation of portfolio gaps and opportunities
Support communications across the pipeline or portfolio with the key stakeholders and teams
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Sales, or related business or scientific field.
Requires at least 5 years of progressive marketing experience or equivalent work experience with 3+ years’ with Med Tech, Diagnostic or Pharma industry.
Proficient in customer segmentation, as well as product, environment, and value creation spanning across both Hardware and Digital.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Other languages, especially German and Spanish, are an advantage
Excellent leadership qualities, including motivating others, team building, and credibility.
High level of proficiency in stakeholder management, comfortable working in a global, matrixed environment and able to forge strong networks
Proven effectiveness in engaging with senior management to enable effective decision making
Resilient, comfortable working amongst ambiguity and committed to delivering quality under pressure and tight timelines
Discrete, with the maturity to handle sensitive information confidentially
Requires expertise in study design and interpretation as well as a broad understanding of Roche products, services and markets.
Preferred:
Advanced degree(s) in technical or business disciplines
Previous global Portfolio Management experience with a focus on commercial product/ is preferred
Experience with agile portfolio management methodologies (incl. SAFE) preferred
Experience in a sales/marketing function or in a Tier 1 Strategy Consultancy is advantageous
Strong strategic mindset, with proven experience in strategy definition and implementation within the healthcare industry
Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity, e.g. quickly grasp complex scientific concepts or ability to boil down complex topics into simple messages
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage global initiatives and work across cultures and geographies.
