With a department of more than 100 data managers, statisticians, data analysts, and software engineers located at Roche Diagnostics sites in Greater Munich, Indianapolis and Mannheim, we support global projects that bring new diagnostics to patients.

Your Team:

We are looking for a Team Leader or a Junior Team Leader in Biostatistics/Clinical Data Science for our site in Greater Munich (Penzberg). The team is focusing on applying state-of-the-art biostatistical and data science methodologies for supporting Personalized Health Care and Companion Diagnostics projects.

Your objectives/tasks

  • Your focus area will be Personalized Health Care and Companion Diagnostics.

  • You will bring your expertise in biostatistics to make sure that pre-clinical and clinical studies are supported with statistical plans, data analyses and reports.

  • You will share your technical expertise and provide guidance to your team members. 

  • Your responsibilities and team size will be adjusted based on your leadership experience. This position might be the first people-leading role for candidates with a strong project or matrix leadership experience.   

  • You will facilitate planning, execution and prioritization of a diverse portfolio of projects.

  • You will be responsible for reviewing study documents, writing analysis reports, supporting regulatory submissions and publications.

  • You will lead data analysis initiatives for developing novel  biomarkers, biomarker combinations, and clinical algorithms by applying the state-of-the-art methods of biostatistcs, advanced data analytics and machine learning.

  • You will interact daily with project stakeholders (R&D, clinical science, regulatory, business, external partners and customers) to capture requirements for data analysis and communicate back the results.

Our ideal candidate

  • University degree in (bio)statistics or related subjects (e.g. bioinformatics and mathematics) with substantial experience in statistics; preferably with a Ph.D.

  • Interest in guiding and developing team members through training and coaching

  • Experience in life science/diagnostics/pharmaceutical industry or successful completion of pre-clinical or clinical data analysis projects in academia

  • Expertise in statistical methods, such as classification, survival and longitudinal models

  • You are familiar with diagnostic statistical procedures: method comparison, logistic regression, ROC analysis, cut-off determination, bridging studies

  • Experience in design, analysis and evaluation of pre-clinical and clinical studies

  • Excellent knowledge of R and ideally Latex, knitr or R markdown

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • English: fluent in speaking and writing

  • Willing to relocate, when situation allows
