Tell us a bit about yourself

Originally, from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I have lived in numerous countries over the last 15 years. Having obtained my Master’s degree from Vienna University of Economics and Business, Vienna is my second home and also where I met my fiancé, Chris. I love to travel, cook, eat, go horse riding, and have exciting experiences. My best adventure so far was when we took a Trans-Siberian trip, where we spent seven days on a train, five days on horseback, and then had a rather refreshing jump into a freezing lake.

In which Roche location are you currently working and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?

I am working for Roche Diagnostics in Centralised and Point of Care Solutions area and my office is located in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. From my desk, I have a view of Mount Pilatus, Mount Rigi and the Lake of Zug. The best part about this site is the people. It is very diverse and international. We are 17 people in the finance team and we have ten different nationalities, which always makes it exciting and interesting for me as I am able to learn about the different cultures and countries from my colleagues. Also, there is always someone you can ask travel advice from.

Why did you decide to join Roche and why this location?

In 2011, I joined Roche Diagnostics Singapore as a Finance Management Trainee. I decided to join Roche then because they offered me an international job opportunity and I was given the opportunity to work in five countries, in three continents, during my two-year traineeship. Now, five years with Roche, I am certain I made the right decision. I enjoy my job and I know that Roche takes an interest in my development.

What is your current position at Roche?

I am currently a Lifecycle Finance Manager, supporting the business team on all financial topics. This is an interesting role as I work with people from numerous functions within the business area and also across the Diagnostics organisation. Furthermore, the topics that I work on can range from strategy or business cases to business analysis or process improvement. It never gets dull in this role.

How would you describe Roche as an employer?

Roche is a great and supportive employer. It has created a work culture with genuine and sincere people, and there is no difference if you are in Switzerland or in Singapore. What I like most is that our leadership team takes a serious interest in people’s development and supports us in making our development plan a reality.

How would you describe the people working here?

We have great and interesting people from all corners of the world. Most of my colleagues have become my friends and we do many things together, outside of work.

What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?

Just before finishing my studies, I started looking for jobs globally, and mainly for a management trainee program at a multinational company. I found my job on a student career platform which brought me to the Roche career homepage.
