Meet Lukas, Global Digital Marketing Manager at Roche
Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hello, my name is Lukas and I grew up in a small village named Weggis close to Rotkreuz. Weggis is situated in a quiet bay on Lake Lucerne at the south west flank of Mount Rigi. Weggis has an exceptionally mild climate and a multitude of Mediterranean plants. It is therefore not surprising that Weggis is often referred to as the "Riviera of Central Switzerland". In my free time I’m really engaged in local associations, for example I lead a Guggenmusik (carnival band). I’m also a group leader in a summer camp for kids. Sports, family, friends and travel are also a really important part of my life. In terms of career, it began with an apprenticeship as a Mediamatiker in a small IT consultancy.
In which Roche location are you currently working and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?
I’m currently working in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. The site has taken a huge step forward in the past years and it is great to see how Roche continuously finds new ways to improve. The new canteen, that opened recently, the really nice evolution square for meeting colleagues, and also the perfect working environment in the buildings are a few examples of how the site has developed. All of this definitely makes Roche the best place to work for me.
Why did you decide to join Roche and why this location?
I was searching for a new opportunity in a globally oriented company, which is also committed to going forward with innovative topics, close to my hometown. My conclusion after 8 years at Roche is that I found the perfect employer, who still meets my expectations 100 percent.
What is your current position at Roche?
I’ve been working in the Digital Marketing team in Roche Professional Diagnostics (RPD) for 5 years now. I started 8 years ago in the IT department, and two marketing educations later, the latest one as a marketing director, I’m working in the marketing services team in RPD. My passion to find new innovative ways to influence the diagnostic market and to support our stakeholders with excellent digital marketing strategies motivates me to get up every day. We offer a full portfolio of digital marketing tools; examples include mobile applications and digital event tools. We are living in really interesting times, with a lot of changes regarding the generation and the usage of digital tools in all areas of our lives. It’s really interesting to experience these changes, also in our working environment.
How would you describe Roche as an employer?
“Doing now what patients need next” is not only a slogan from Roche; the people at the company are living it. You can feel that spirit for innovation in various topics like work-life balance, flexible working hours, personal development opportunities, changing perspectives and modern buildings.
How would you describe the people working here?
The employees are a great mix from around the world. This diversity gives you the possibility to get in touch with a lot of different people with different characters and backgrounds, which is what makes every working day unique.
