Why we're a great employer
1.We make a difference to people’s lives
If you want to work for a company that makes a difference to people’s lives all over the world, consider Roche.
Our work in preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of health disorders through innovative products and services enhances both people’s health and quality of life.
We focus on disease areas where the medical needs are greatest – such as cancer, viral infections, disorders of the metabolic and central nervous systems, and inflammatory diseases.
In the UK, our diagnostics and pharmaceuticals businesses work together to develop integrated solutions that can be customised to individual patients' needs. For example, our work in chronic hepatitis C has helped us not only develop the now standard treatment for the disease, but also a diagnostic test that identifies both the virus level and subtype. This enables clinicians to tailor the treatment to individual needs including the length of treatment and drug dosage.
2.We’re an innovative world leader offering long term stability
Roche is the world’s largest biotech company, with truly differentiated medicines in oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, ophthalmology and neuroscience. Roche is also the world leader in in vitro diagnostics and tissue-based cancer diagnostics, and leads the way in diabetes management.
Personalised Healthcare – where a patient is matched with the best treatment based on their specific biological markers – is at the core of our business strategy. By focusing on both Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics, Roche is in a unique position to realise this vision and drive innovation for the benefit of patients.
3.We’re open to debate and new ideas
At Roche, innovation is key to the success of our business. Our products push the boundaries and we encourage our employees to do the same. We work together across functions, businesses and the world with a strong sense of purpose. We foster a culture of collaboration, respect and empowerment where ideas can flourish. Our collaborative, inclusive culture embraces diversity and encourages employees to have a voice and shape the organisation. We promote an environment where employees understand the value of mutual respect and where respectful challenge is encouraged.
4.We offer you the chance to develop and realise your potential
Being part of a large, global organisation there are plenty of opportunities to develop your career. We work hard to understand the individual career aspirations of our employees and although you will be encouraged to take ownership of your career and influence your own development, Roche will support you all the way. For example, we offer workplace opportunities such as secondments or stretch assignments to others areas of the business, both at a local and global level. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of both local and global leadership, management and skills development programmes. There are taster days enabling employees to experience different roles in the organisation as well as mentoring programmes. This is underpinned by career development workshops which are designed to get you thinking and plan your next steps.
5.We take care of you
We foster a culture of reward and recognition supported by a competitive remuneration package directly linked to individual and business performance. There is also the opportunity to share in the success of our business via our annual bonus scheme as well as the employee share plan.
