Product Development Oncology PhD fellowship programme

The Product Development Oncology PhD fellowship programme is a 1-year programme for young PhDs (who finished their PhD no more than two years ago) interested in gaining experience in clinical research in the pharmaceutical environment and in supporting our commitment to developing innovative medicines for patients.

Roche’s Product Development Oncology (PDO) department is structured by therapeutic area and is responsible for developing and executing the late-development clinical strategies and plans that deliver medically differentiated therapies able to provide meaningful improvement to patients' lives. The Product Development Oncology PhD fellowship programme allows young scientists to immerse themselves in clinical research, under the mentorship of leading scientists and medical directors - benefitting both patients and the scientific community - while providing the opportunity to start their careers in drug development.

Programme content

  • Duration: 24 months (flexible start date)
  • Location: Roche Pharmaceuticals in Basel, Switzerland
  • Opportunities for varied, challenging and innovative projects among the different franchises in PDO Roche (e.g. Haematology, Lung, Breast, Immunotherapy, Rare diseases, Paediatrics).

Who you are

We are looking for candidates who share our passion for people as well as  our company’s values of integrity, courage & passion. Additionally, you should meet the following criteria:

  • PhD degree in biosciences
  • Business fluency in written and verbal English
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Allowed to work in Switzerland

Outcome and prospects

You will be a valued integral member of the clinical science team in the PDO department, involved in the design, set-up and implementation of groundbreaking, innovative clinical trials.  While expanding your network with pharmaceutical and academic colleagues, you will gain an understanding of the process of monitoring and collecting high-quality and informative data to ensure a successful outcome and a meaningful impact on patients’ lives worldwide.
