The Product Development Oncology MD fellowship programme is a 1-year programme for early-in-career Medical Doctors (MDs - finishing residency or in the early stage of the career) interested in gaining experience in clinical research in the pharmaceutical environment and in supporting our commitment to developing innovative medicines.

Roche’s Product Development Oncology (PDO) department is structured by therapeutic area and is responsible for developing and executing the late- development clinical strategies and plans that deliver medically differentiated therapies able to provide meaningful improvement to patients’ lives. The Product Development Oncology MD fellowship programme allows young physicians to immerse themselves in clinical research, under the mentorship of leading scientists and medical directors - benefitting both patients and the scientific community - while accelerating their careers in drug development.

Programme content

  • Duration: 12 months (flexible start date)
  • Location: Roche Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland
  • Opportunities for varied, challenging and innovative projects among the different franchises in PDO Roche (e.g. Haematology, Lung, Breast, Immunotherapy, Rare disease, Paediatrics).

Who you are

We are looking for candidates who share our passion for people as well as our company’s values of integrity, courage & passion. Additionally, you should meet the following criteria:

  • MD degree with training in haemato-oncology
  • Highly quantitative mindset
  • Business fluency in written and verbal English
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills

Outcome and prospects

You will be a valued integral member of the clinical science team in the PDO department, involved in the design, set-up and implementation of groundbreaking, efficient clinical trials. While expanding your network with pharmaceutical and academic colleagues, you will gain an understanding of the process of monitoring and collecting high-quality and informative data to ensure successful filings.
