Meet Neetha Pai, Assistant Consultant Application at Roche Diagnostics India
Tell us a bit about yourself
I am Neetha M. Pai, and I give application support to Centralized Diagnostics Range of products for Delhi and NCR region. Roche is where I began my career. During my tenure three years, this organization has helped me develop from a college pass out, to a professional. I love reading, listening to music and experimenting with recipes in my kitchen.
Where did you study?
I have done my schooling at Delhi from St. Marks School, my graduation in General Biochemistry at Mangalore from 130 years old St. Aloysius College, and my post-graduation in Medical Biochemistry also at Mangalore from Kasturba Medical College.
Why did you decide to join Roche?
While doing my post-graduation in Medical Biochemistry, I had a desire to work for an organization of repute, and Roche gave me that opportunity. I joined as a Management Trainee and I was groomed in the best possible manner. Roche being my first organization, the values I inherited are aligned to Roche values: Integrity, Courage and Passion.
What is your current job?
I am currently working as Assistant Consultant (Application). I provide application support to Immunology and Clinical Chemistry Range of instruments. The job profile has a lot of travelling. It includes going to customer sites, to provide trainings to the customers, and also visiting sites for troubleshooting of problems faced by the customer. In addition to that, we also provide trainings to the customers with respect to basic laboratory practices. All this can be done only at the customer site; hence, it is a complete field work. At the same time, we have a lot of desk work, like documenting our site visits, and responding to customer queries over email.
What makes it such a great job?
I love my job because I find it as a new challenge every day. Every customer might have a different problem. To troubleshoot them and give customer a solution gives a great sense of victory to me, and I am sure it gives some relief to the customer as well. Another reason is the trainings, I personally love trainings. There are different kinds of customers whom I have trained. Some are well versed with automation, and learn easily. However, when I train users who have no knowledge of automation and every bit of information I give is new to them and when these users become experts in using our instruments, I consider it as my success and it again gives me a sense of victory.
Can you pick at least three of the attributes of Roche and explain in detail what they mean to you?
- Work-life balance
Work-life balance is very important because our family and friends are as important part of our lives as is work. Our jobs must be such that we must be able to give enough time to our family and to our customers and Roche helps me in balancing my life and work really well.
A product must be such that it gives the competition a tough time. Roche offers a broad range quality products in which breakdown is very few and thus the customer satisfaction is very high.
Respect has to be mutual. The organization must respect an employee and understand his/her positives and negatives and give opportunities to work on the negatives and maintain and improve the positives. The employees must also respect the organization and understand what it can do and cannot do. The whole setup of Roche shows that the company really cares for its employees and does not see them only as “numbers”.
Please complete the following sentence:
Roche is a great place to work because… it provides ample opportunity to grow and all the employees are observed and appreciated for their good work.
How would you describe the people working here?
People working at Roche are chosen after rigorous interviews. So they have to be the best, in terms of knowledge and attitude towards work and people. People whom I have worked with so far have been quite helpful to me. As a trainee and even after being a confirmed employee, I have always got support from my Line Manager and other colleagues. People around you are also responsible of making it a great place to work.
What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?
I would like to say that if you are thinking of joining Roche, then it is the most sensible decision, and you need not think twice about it. You will develop not only in your field of expertise but also as a professional and as a good human being.
