A Solid Rear Area for Roche’s Patients
How are you contributing through your work at Roche to help patients?
Since joining Roche almost 5 years ago, I have been bustling about the warehouse at the headquarters. All products including room temperature products and cold chain drugs that have rolled off the production line have to be counted and checked by my team and then put onto the stocking shelves in the warehouse or delivered to all parts of the country.
To put it simply, each box and each bottle of Roche Pharmaceuticals’ 18 products starts its journey from this huge warehouse and is delivered to people who need it.
What is the most challenging part of your job or about working at Roche in general?
All products have to be checked, packaged and delivered from the storage and go through other processes.
Different from room temperature products, cold chain products have additional packaging process. The number of ice cubes required to fill the package of the products varies from product to product and from season to season. Any fault might make the temperature too high or too low, which will affect the efficacy of the drugs and lead to unimaginable consequences.
What are the positive challenges your jobs offers you? (Describe what you want to deliver and contribute with your job, not the pure responsibilities)
As long as the machines at the factory keep operating, the warehouse cannot stop operation and me and my team must keep working. All the year around, every day and even at weekends people come to the warehouse to report for duty. As an integral part of the whole supply chain, my team has established a solid rear area for Roche’s patients.
Have you seen the result of you work reflected in helping patients?
Every link of logistics looks simple and ordinary, but it is an integral part of Roche’s supply chain. Only through the whole process management can the safety of the drugs be ensured and can safe drugs be delivered to each patient safely, which is the commitment made by me, each warehouse employee and Roche to patients.
