Seize The Opportunity, Work Responsibly & Live A Happy Life
Tell us a bit about yourself
Prior to joining in Roche, I had been worked in a state-owned pharmaceutical company and a Japanese company for a total of six years.
I joined Roche in 2010, although in the same field of pharmaceutical production quality, I have truly experienced the difference between Roche and other companies, and feel honoured of being a part of Roche Technical Operations, just like a small component of a big machine, hoping to make this technology department operate as a big device more smoothly through our efforts.
What can you tell us about that location as a work environment?
Roche’s humanistic care is the most attractive element for the employees. Besides its considerate staff welfare system, Roche also offers 28 shuttle buses, which cover almost entire Shanghai, restaurants, coffee bars and clinics. Roche provides opportunities and encourage staffs to participate in a variety of community activities and workshops, taking the concept of “Employee Care” into practice and showing a strong cohesive force in enterprise.
What is your current position at Roche?
When I joined Roche in 2010, firstly I worked as GMP support manager, responsible for the quality control in the production process. With the continuous improvement of production quality requirements, my work content has been extended gradually.
In 2012, besides the quality control, a deviation investigation, the implementation of global standard quality documentation and the internal documentation arrangement for the production department have been added into the job duties.
By the end of 2013, I transferred to solid manufacturing group, responsible for production management of the solid preparation products in the production department. The solid manufacturing workshop, which is responsible for the production of Xeloda tablets, mycophenolate mofetil tablets, capsule and Madopa tablets, is a challenge as well as an opportunity for me.
What is important is that this position fully meets the needs of individual development and is a memorable turning point in my career.
How would you describe Roche as an employer?
In my eyes, Roche is a responsible company. Roche has making an effective control over the raw material, production environment and process, storage and transportation and the inspection process through its almost perfect quality assurance systems, ensuring that everything has regulations to abide by and is well documented in our working process and furthermore, everything will be under a prompt and effective control in unexpected situations. What is important is that we can thus provide the patients with high-quality medicines improve and maintain their health.
Technology department also provides the staff with many “customized” development opportunities, from which many colleagues has benefited a lot. Such development opportunities include internal cross-training, external training, exchange and assignment to other Roche factories, internal work rotation, etc. Everyone, from an operation staff to a department manager, may find a suitable opportunity according to their personal development plans.
What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?
You’d better know something about Roche’s enterprise culture, reinforce the base of medicine knowledge, understand the features of antineoplastic medicine, be familiar with the specialized knowledge requirement of pharmaceutical company, for example, regulations of pharmaceutical production, quality control at home and abroad. Besides, the good confidence and high enthusiasm for the work are also the keys to joining Roche.
How is your job connected to “doing now what patients need next”
Three most essential elements for the pharmaceutical industry are systems, personnel and plant equipment. In these three areas, Roche is really commendable, we’re doing now what patients need next.
In terms of system, through the implementation of global quality system management, the quality requirements in internal Roche Shanghai and global Roche factory have be unified, which providing stringent safeguards to the high standards and uniformity of product quality.
In addition, Roche has paid great attention to the personnel qualification requirements. They not only require the staff to possess professional technical knowledge, but also give strong support for the personnel development, combining the personnel development closely with enterprise requirements. In terms of plant equipment, a preventive maintenance is listed in daily work requirements and the problems will be resolved without delay, laying the foundation for the stabilization of the production.
Moreover, Roche has spent great efforts in introducing in the most forefront high-enclosed equipment and design concepts to meet the continuously improving GMP and the requirements of safety, health and environmental protection.
All these reflect the high sense of responsibility Roche has possessed to the patients and its employees.
