Meet Andrea Masters, Group Manager, Product Listing Agreements (PLA) at Roche
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in Toronto which is where I live now with my husband, kids and a malti-poo named Dexter. I love going to events in the city with my family, travelling, cooking shows (more watching than actually cooking), British comedies and mysteries.
I graduated with a Microbiology degree and started working over 15 years ago in the pharmaceutical industry. I have had various roles within the industry including Supply Chain, Forecasting, Sales, Production Planning, Pricing and Reimbursement and now focusing on Product Listing Agreements.
What is your current position at Roche Canada?
I started working at Roche in January of 2014 first as a Pricing and Reimbursement Strategy Manager and now as a Group Manager, Product Listing Agreements (PLA). It’s an exciting time with many changes in the Market Access environment with lots of opportunity to learn and make a difference as the environment evolves. Roche Canada acknowledges the need to focus on PLAs as an increasingly important tool for payers and drug manufacturers. As a result, my group is newly created within the Market Access and Pricing function. We will be concentrating on pan Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) negotiations as well as PLAs for both the public and private access.
How would you describe the people working here?
It feels like you are part of a family at Roche and that’s what makes this such a great place to work. People are smart, fun and collaborative. I look forward to coming to work when we have such a great team within Market and Access and Pricing (MAP). We have a team of around 20 people with diverse educational backgrounds and experience.
Why did you decide to join Roche?
I believed in Roche’s commitment to research and innovation. There are so many people that are impacted by cancer and Roche is definitely the leading company in oncology. In addition to this, there are also many different therapeutic areas that we focus on which makes our jobs interesting and diverse.
I was also drawn to the different career options whether you want to develop within the team or participate in cross-functional opportunities and global exchanges. It just depends on which direction you want to go.
What can you tell us about the current job openings in your department?
We currently have openings in Market Access as a result of the group expanding as well as several team members taking on cross-functional assignments in different areas of the organization. I’m particularly excited about the expansion of the Product Listing Agreement team and our focus on developing product listing agreement plans and strategies for new and in-market products. This is a great time for individuals with pricing or reimbursement backgrounds to join Roche Canada and make a real difference to patients getting access to innovative therapies.
