Roche Sequencing Solutions Santa Clara (RSSSC), is a nanopore based DNA sequencing company dedicated to making genetic testing easy and affordable. We are developing a revolutionary, low cost, and semiconductor based DNA/RNA reader. This technology will improve the lives of people with a wide variety of applications including the timely screening of newborns for diseases and the diagnosis of cancers and infectious diseases.


RSSSC is looking for a motivated and team-oriented individual who is passionate about revolutionary sequencing technology. The lead Scientist will be a critical member in the lab to help take the Roche Single Molecule Sequencing Platform from an advanced proof of principle to an operational laboratory instrument. He or she will ensure that labs have the necessary supplies for their research and must be detail oriented and keep exceptional notes. The candidate will should also have excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, along with experimental design experience.


  • Act as lab lead of the Pre-Pilot Production team and coordinate with the Lab Manager on daily builds, process changes and issues
  • Prioritize daily build and tasks with the team to ensure materials are prepared accurately and on time
  • Keep inventory of supplies and ensure a healthy stock of materials at all times
  • Train and guide staff to make sure proper procedures are being followed
  • Interface between Clean Room lab operations and groups requesting materials
  • Work with Consumable Device and Engineering teams on continuing process improvements and new process transfers
  • Prepare necessary materials for experiments using wet lab and good manufacturing techniques
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures while handling potentially hazardous chemicals and ensure team members conduct themselves in a safe manner
  • Work in clean room and small scale assembly lab environments while adhering to PPE requirements
  • Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
  • Assist in development and testing of prototypes or new processes
  • Support daily manufacturing operations including troubleshooting and resolving problems with equipment, devices or materials
  • Ensure labs have necessary supplies to run experiments
  • Track reagents and materials used in experiments and assemblies
  • Certify incoming material is inspected and meets known standards
  • Assist lab personnel with miscellaneous needs
  • Troubleshoot issues regarding equipment preparation as they arise
  • Become an expert on the operation of the RSSSC
