Manager/ Sr. Manager - Legal

Roles & Responsibilities:
The identified candidate will be the legal business partner for the assigned internal stakeholders for any advice or assistance on routine legal matters. The identified candidate shall work with the Head – Legal & Risk Management on leading and driving the legal and agenda in the Organization across its business territories i.e India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. The interested candidate shall be self-motivated, have an eye for detail, good team player as well as ability to handle tasks independently and above all passionate about his/her work.
Detailed roles and responsibilities are as follows:
Legal:
  • Understand the business activities and advise on/draft appropriate form of Agreements. Where possible standardize such business Agreements.
  • Review existing business contracts and revise them, if needed to make business friendly as well as adequately protecting legal rights of the organization.
  • Work with the internal stake holders and lead the drafting, vetting and reviewing business contracts like Distribution Agreement, CFA Services Agreement, Instrument Placement Contract, Tender Documents, Supply Contract, Business Promotion activities, Leave & License / Lease Agreements, Employment Contracts, etc. If needed, negotiate the contracts with third parties.
  • Drafting, vetting and reviewing replies / submissions to Govt. Authorities
  • Manage the external counsels.
  • Co-ordinate with external lawyers for various legal matters like consumer complaints, legal notices from customers, show cause notices from Statutory Authority, litigations, debt recovery, cheque bouncing, employment matters, etc. and determine the litigation strategy in consultation with Head – Legal & Risk Management, where needed. Review the replies/submissions w.r.t. legal notices, litigation, etc.
  • Responsible for Contract Database Management
  • Responsible for Litigation Database Management
  • Ensure timely internal and external annual submissions
  • Keep track of various amendments to applicable regulations, identify its business implications and keep Stakeholders updated about same 
Risk Management:
  • Work with the Head – Legal & Risk Management in driving the risk management (risk identification, evaluation and mitigation) agenda of the Organization.
Experience:
  • Manager – 8 to 10 years (Corporate Law firm experience 6-8 years)
  • Sr. Manager – 11 – 13 years (Corporate Law firm experience 8-10 years)
