Senior Software Architect

Diagnostics Governance & Services' mission is to enable Roche Diagnostics to make our end-customer successful by using integrated diagnostic solutions. Diagnostics Governance & Services drives the alignment of the divisional governance model based on solution concepts and divisional standards mutually agreed with all BAs (MS, CPS, SIS). Thereby we provide the needed services and common assets that help the BAs to reach the common goal.

The Software and Security Architecture Team consists of Senior/Principal SW Architects for Interoperability, Security and Software Architecture to provide support during different project phases and brings the expertise to our internal/external world-wide development partners.  In this technical leadership role as a SW Architect you will contribute to the SW and Security Architecture Consulting Services through the following major activities:

  • Translate business strategy into architecture strategy and technology roadmaps
  • Identify new, actionable trends and create means to assess their value for the company
  • Define macro scale architectures for multiple product lines and multiple technologies
  • Govern architecture: gain commitment and make architecture decisions, develop architectural roadmaps, communicate decisions, plans, goals and strategies
  • Assess, define and champion the SW architecture principles, standards and patterns in alignment with the Roche Diagnostics strategic initiatives; promote and govern their use within Roche and partners
  • Collaborate with wide range of stakeholders beyond a single project, including from business, development, service, operations, regulatory and other organizations
  • Represent the company to the authorities and in external forums or communities
  • On demand deliver software architecture consulting services to multiple development organizations or partners working on different products or technologies
  • Review and assess architecture of products, product lines, solutions and architecture capabilities of project teams
  • Elaborate technical architecture concepts, reference architectures or domain architectures in the scope of Roche Diagnostics’ products, solutions and services
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge in architecture domains and technologies in line with Roche business strategy
  • Coach and support strategic partners and key projects
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation in the form of reference

Who you are

  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or engineering technology
  • Strong technical acumen and 6+ years of working experience
  • Solid hands-on, full-stack software development experience
  • Extensive experience developing, documenting, delivering and maintaining technical architectures according to the business needs
  • Excellent communication skills, technical mindset and attention to detail, curiosity to new topics in IT industry, drive to innovate and promote ideas

Desired skills (any combination of those is a plus)

  • Software architecture certification
  • Ability to define models and specifications using UML, XML, JSON, SOAP and REST
  • Experience in development of embedded software
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system, architecture and open source
  • Ability to digest and understand complicated system on a chip (SoC), IP, CPU, and board architecture and design specifications
  • Enterprise architecture and business needs analysis
  • Designing and migrating applications to the cloud
  • Knowledge of Health IT standards
  • Agile and DevOps
