Research Computer Scientist

We are a global Pharma Research & Early Development Informatics Organization looking for a Research Computer Scientist to join our highly dynamic Safety and early Development Workflows (SDW) team. The position covers three dimensions focusing on business analysis, project and application management. The SDW team maintains, enhances and develops a wide range of scientific and clinical informatics systems for our customers of the translational research and early development departments of Roche Pharma.

As Business Analyst you:

  • Independently analyze scientific processes and workflows
  • Actively manage the relationship with scientists from the translational research and early clinical departments
  • Capture system and service requirements and ensuring fit-for-purpose business analysis
  • Manage change for new and existing systems
  • Provide input for risk analysis activities

As Project Manager you:

  • Lead scientific and clinical informatics projects within the assigned resources and timelines
  • Provide training, guidance and scientific support to scientists to increase effective usage of current systems
  • Being able to support scientists in local and global computerized system validation (CSV) activities would be beneficial

As Application Manager you:

  • Effectively support a series of scientific applications for the translational and early clinical development departments
  • Review and optimize the existing application landscape
  • Monitor and manage the application capacity, efficiency and effectiveness based on metrics and KPIs for continuous improvement

We are looking for a self-driven and analytical Research Computer Scientist with a university degree at the interface of science and/or informatics. You have an understanding of research and/or clinical development processes and functions, and scientific tools. You have first experiences in leading informatics projects in the pharmaceutical information environment.

In addition you bring:

  • Strong capability to analyze business processes and translate them into requirement specifications
  • Good knowledge and practice of project management (ideally certified), as well as a track record of successful software application implementations
  • Good technical skills (e.g. scripting languages, data modeling and web service technology)
  • Flexible “Can-Do” and “Finisher” mentality in various team settings
  • Good communication and facilitation skills when dealing with internal and external partners
  • Ability to deal with vendors and partners
  • A high degree of reliability
  • Knowledge in compliance methodologies (GxP, CSV, data privacy, risk assessment) is of advantage
