Manager of SCM Logistics accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors, exempt and non-exempt staff.  Assignments are received in the form of objectives and the manager determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Manager leads team to work on a variety of routine and complex initiatives. Manager makes independent decisions within guidelines which impact short term business unit operations, with limited impact on long-term results. Manager has frequent contact with internal personnel and outside representatives concerning business unit operations, scheduling of projects or contracts. Manager is responsible for staffing and development of direct reports and spends at least 30% to 50% of their time managing.

  • Effectively manage Substores, Internal Distribution, Manufacturing Equipment Storage and Materials Management Warehouse Operations at the SSFP campus
  • Lead, motivate and encourage direct reports to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Foster continuous learning and create developmental opportunities to ensure continued growth of staff
  • Provide effective coaching and guidance
  • Ensure strict adherence to cGMP’s,CFR, ANNEX, FDA, OSHA, DOT, SOP and Genentech Global Warehouse policies/procedures
  • Ensure departmental financial objectives are met by preparing annual budgets and monitoring expense, capital budgets, reconciling variances and developing and implementing cost improvement programs as necessary
  • Ensure timely and appropriate review and resolution of department discrepancies and corrective actions
  • Forecast future manpower, space, and capital requirements
  • Ensure a high state of GMP compliance throughout the operations and processes, such that all audits, both internal and external, are met with ease and without undue preparation
  • Ensure that the appropriate inventory management policies are practiced to manage and control inventory
  • Manage GMP warehouse utilization effectively, with flexibility to meet predictable peaks and downsides leveraging resources appropriately
  • Ensure a safe working environment for the staff and model safe work behaviors
  • Provide expertise and leadership in supply chain management principles for inventory management and strategy through development, training, and supervision of the staff
  • Develop and maintain department KPIs
  • Deliver goals on budget and on schedule
  • Develop, evaluate and manage business case and cost/benefit analyses
  • Provide decision support and recommendations that provide optimal results
  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders and sponsors regarding progress, issues and plans for issue resolution
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism; successfully prioritize workload in accordance with business goals
  • Maintain an environment of continuous improvement utilizing OE methodologies
  • Effectively sponsor internal continuous improvement projects
  • Drive Class A performance and behaviors

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • BA or BS in Business in Logistics Management  or Life Sciences required 

  • 8 to 11 years of experience in Materials Management, Manufacturing Production or Supply Chain Management with 2- 3 years industry experience in a cGMP environment

  • 3 to 4 years supervisory experience

  • Experience working in a cGMP manufacturing environment

  • APICS certification preferred


 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fundamental knowledge of inventory management principals and practice

  • Proficiency with computer programs MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Visio, Project. 

  • Thorough knowledge of Hazmat handling and transportation regulations

  • Knowledge of ERP system or integrated inventory management software

  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulation and Class B programs

  • Requires strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and prioritization skills

  • Successful demonstration of leadership, teamwork, problem solving, decision making and technical skills

  • Working knowledge of Operational Excellence tools (ie. 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc)

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations

  • Must be able to work weekends and off shifts

  • Standing or sitting is required for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to climb stairs and walk for extended periods of time

  • Ability to perform computer work with heavy mouse or RF equipment use 

  • Environment requires safety glasses, gowning, gloves and steel toe boots 

  • No make up or jewelry can be worn when working in the clean room environment.

  • Work with hazardous materials and chemicals.
