Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of test automation practices through implementation in complex systems and assignments. General responsibilities include leading the software team through test automation framework design, extending team knowledge of test automation concepts, guiding automation concepts, completing technical reviews of test automation solutions, framework maintenance, and extending test automation scripts. Makes independent and collaborative decisions in support of shared team goals.


•Leads all project team discussions and decisions in regard to software test automation concepts and deliverables.

•Makes major contributions to strategic directions and projects through knowledge of technology and its creative applications.

•Researches industry trends in test automation and summarizes relevant information for the team.

•Develops robust, scalable, test automation solutions for functional, regression, and performance testing

•Works collaboratively with project teams to extend their test automation coverage.

•Provides acceptance of project test automation related deliverables.

•Builds, customizes, and deploys test automation frameworks.

•Writes and contributes to internal help articles and makes them available as a resource to others.

•Ensures test automation solutions meet standards for scalability, reliability, consistency, and performance 

•Designs, plans, and executes project related tasks.

•Utilizes design of experiment as appropriate, assuring experimental quality through sound experimental design.

•Advises development teams on unit testing solutions and unit test coverage.

•Manages cross functional technical initiatives.

•Establishes partnerships across other organizational groups to enable information sharing.

•Provides technical direction and feedback to others.

•Participates in project planning, process updates and contributes to experimental design.

•Prepares and delivers presentations of project results to others; presents data to larger and more diverse audiences.

•Applies functional expertise routinely on the job.

•Mentors and teaches others in test automation processes and practices.

•Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.

•Other duties as assigned by management.

Formal Training/Education:

  • BS degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 8 years of related experience.

  • MS degree in directly related discipline + 4 years of related experience required; OR, PhD degree in a directly related discipline + 2 years of related experience required.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience, with three years of experience for each year of education.
