We have multiple opportunities available for talented Data Engineers to join the Roche Diagnostics Bioinformatics team within Research and Computational Biology. As a Data and Analytics (D&A) Data Engineer you will work alongside a team of Data Manager, Scientists and Bioinformaticians Analysts to support data acquisition, integrity, availability, and security throughout the organization.
Contribute to the development and implementation of Roche DIA’s Enterprise Data Management strategy.
Actively participate in data acquisition efforts.
Understand data needs and advise company on technological resources.
Develop reports, dashboards, and tools for business-users.
Assist with building of Roche’s next-generation data infrastructure to support optimal extraction, loading, and transformation of data from a wide variety of data sources (genomics, instrumentation).
Plan and build key data models with the Data Scientists and Analysts, minimizing time to insights and supporting self-service analytics.

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics or equivalent.
At least 3 years relevant experience in data engineering and/or business intelligence.
Experience developing data pipelines using programming languages such as Nextflow, Conda, Java, or Python.
Advanced experience working with graph or relational databases and query authoring.
Experience delivering data-models and pipelines using cloud services and architectures.
Advanced knowledge and best practices within ETLs, ELTs, and data integration patterns.
Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and/or identify opportunities for improvement.
An eagerness to learn new skills and deliver contemporary solutions in a rapidly changing tech division.
Experience with deploying software and systems in the cloud.
Key focus areas include:
Support highly performant APIs, visualization tools, and data analytics.
Ensure all data solutions follow FAIR (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse) data principles.
In this role, a typical day might include the following:
Translate business requirements into data models and data warehousing layer on AWS to support APIs, visualization tools, and data analytics.
Implement ETL pipelines to extract and load data into and from Databases.
Evaluate and participate in designing sprints of database/data warehouse solutions and technologies as we continue to grow.
Share domain and technical expertise by providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
