The position is located in the “Bioprocess Research” department, which belongs to the "Pharma Research and Early Development" (pRED) organization. The main focus of our team is to develop innovative bioprocesses to produce therapeutic proteins for early clinical trials.

We are a multidisciplinary team that applies world-leading methods in bioprocess engineering, automation, data processing as well as advanced data analytics like mechanistic modeling or AI. We are proud of our team spirit and our hunger for science and are constantly learning from each other and from others to stay at the forefront of research.

Your position:

You will work in a multidisciplinary team on the interface between early-stage bioprocess research and late-stage technical development.

Focus of the project is the investigation of applicability of different mechanistic models (SMA, colloidal etc.) as digital twins of the downstream processing over the whole value chain.

Among other responsibilities, you can expect the following highly exciting tasks:

  • You will work as a Postdoc (m/f/d) within Roche Pharma Research, developing digital twins for protein purification processes

  • Your key responsibilities comprise the investigation of colloidal models for ion exchange and multimodal chromatography resins

  • It is up to you to closely interact with scientists from other functions and external partners

  • Presentation of data internally and externally as well as literature search is part of your regular tasks

The publication of results also belongs to your tasks and will be supported.

Who you are:

  • You have a strong background in mechanistic modeling, ideally in colloidal models, of protein purification processes and experiences in related software packages (DSPX or similar)

  • You have a PhD degree in the field of biotechnology or a related field with at least 3 years research experience

  • You are a goal-oriented personality, willing to establish new workflows for the bioprocess development of the future. You are eager to perform wet-lab experiments and build an own network

  • Furthermore you are well known for your strong team spirit and your willingness to work in international teams

  • Excellent English skills (written and spoken) complete your profile.

This position is limited to a period of two years (with positive results an extension is envisioned).
