The Histologically focused position, working with their Manager, colleagues, key customer stakeholders, and commercial partners, is responsible for creating and supporting the value propositions around Roche (Histological systems) and Roche Healthcare Consulting (RHC) (solutions). The position will strategically differentiate both Roche (Histological systems) and Roche Healthcare Consulting (solutions) by delivering these differentiated and value-driven solutions to Roche customers both inside and outside the laboratory. The Consultant will create/demonstrate customer value (at the lab and/or institutional level) to foster and support Roche Histological systems sales opportunities and position commercial opportunities within Roche Healthcare Consulting. As a part of the routine delivery of Roche solutions, the position may be required to align with global Roche Healthcare Consulting stakeholders, global Business Affiliate (BA) stakeholders, North American Roche Diagnostic Corporation (RDC) marketing, and information technology teams, as assigned or required.
This position requires a seasoned professional with wide-ranging experience addressing diverse and oftentimes complex issues. When engaging with a customer, the position will exercise independent judgment in the appropriate use of tools and methods to determine a customer’s best path forward and recommend solution(s). The position will often encounter complex challenges requiring detailed data analysis and the managing of competing customer interests impacting the proposed solution. The position will at times coordinate the activities of other Roche or Roche Healthcare Consulting partners. The position will need to interact and network with senior internal and external leaders and will represent the Roche and Roche Healthcare Consulting brands.
The position will collaborate with fellow Roche Healthcare Consulting colleagues to refine the methods and tools employed to demonstrate and position the value of Roche’s portfolio of solutions (systems) and Roche Healthcare Consulting services.
The position requires the ability to be agile in a rapidly changing, matrix organization, and be comfortable operating in an evolving, ambiguous environment. The position will collect and provide feedback (voice of the customer input) to improve the overall consulting solution offering, products, and services Roche supports. The position is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
Utilize Roche Healthcare Consulting’s proprietary tools and techniques that create evidence-based, differentiated value, both inside and outside the walls of the lab.
Provide pre and post-sales support for the development and implementation of the recommended complex diagnostic solutions, as required.
Provide operational assessments, training and advice to customers impacting cost, quality and, productivity metrics utilizing tools such as process maps, value stream mapping, 5S, VDM, A3, X-Matrix, Standard Work, Workplace Redesign, Operational Changeover, etc.)
Assist with the development of similar consulting services in international markets and global Business Affiliates, as required.
Collaborate with the Managers and consultant team members to develop, refine and constantly evolve high-value deliverables, best practices, and tools delivering differentiated, value-creating consulting services
Assist in training on sales, services, and customer teams on Roche Healthcare Consulting solutions and approach, as appropriate.
Collaborate positively with their peers to exceed customer expectations when delivering to new and existing customers
Professionally communicate short term and long term recommendations that deliver efficiency, safety, and effectiveness while positioning other Roche Healthcare Consulting solutions that solve a customer’s challenges.
Communicate the value of RHC services through written documents, speaking engagements, marketing materials, etc.
Provide Consulting support to other Roche organizations for product development and commercialization activities, as required.
Assist or facilitate Roche internal process improvement events, as required.
Collaboratively develop detailed customer installation requirements with the customer, Roche Support Network and Roche Information Technology teams, as required.
Ensure Roche Healthcare Consulting solutions are meeting the customer’s needs and the proposed solution(s) are functioning according to specification, as required.
Responsible for all Roche Healthcare Consulting and Roche administrative requirements, including expenses, project reports, status reports, and adherence to regulatory requirements as required for the role.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or healthcare-related field
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous quality improvement discipline required. Black Belt certification not required at hire, but Black Belt certified in Lean and Six Sigma programs within 18 months of onboarding expected; Black Belt or higher certification preferred
Minimum 3 years of management experience. Background may include in-laboratory experience or healthcare industry experience and experience delivering and managing consulting services using Lean Six-sigma or similar analytical tools.
Strong organization and analytical skills to uncover key technical, operational, and strategic issues.
Ability to use analytical methods and applications to support consulting engagement conclusions and recommendations.
Ability to help define and contribute to new business concepts to the RDC’s total solution, including creating and delivering professional services, creating methods, and tools.
Ability to travel +75% of the time
Advanced verbal and written communication skills to influence customer decision-makers by articulating ideas and influencing others to adopt solutions. This includes the ability to credibly recommend changes to lab practices to improve waste, cost, quality, and turnaround times.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead, manage and influence people at various organizational levels internally and within the customer site.
General understanding of IVD Laboratory Solutions and their workflow/functioning; within the lab and at an institutional level.
Requires familiarity with Roche and/or competitor products.
Master’s degree in a healthcare discipline (MBA, MHA, MHSA, MPH) preferred
5+ years of management experience preferred. The background may include in-laboratory experience or healthcare industry experience and experience delivering and managing consulting services using Lean Six-sigma or similar analytical tools.
3+ years of commercial experience in a service-oriented or consulting environment
