Roche Diagnostics is providing Point-of-Care BGE systems for the measurement of blood gases, electrolytes and metabolites in human blood samples. In our R&D department, “BGE Sensors Reagents & Processes” we develop and optimize sensor designs, system reagents, and respective manufacturing processes for sensor cartridges applied in these systems.
To strengthen our interdisciplinary team, we are looking for a competent Senior Development Engineer - Cartridge Testing.
Definition of the strategy for BG/E sensors integration into the cartridge and alignment with system integration and sensors, processes, cartridge and reagents development teams
Responsibility for the integration of sub-elements (like cassette, sensors, reagents) into a functional sensor cartridge in alignment with multi-disciplinary teams of the system development
Analysis of extrinsic factors - environmental and BG/E system inherent factors - influencing the BG/E sensor measurement performance within the cartridge.
Development, implementation, and application of respective test methods on existing test setups. Adaptation of these test equipment and test setups to optimize the analysis of the extrinsic factors
Development of improvements of the design or analytic models to optimize the analytical performance
Alignment with the respective development teams (e.g. sensor design, algorithm development, cartridge design, reagents development, electronics design, system architecture) on the implementation of improvement
Planning, execution, documentation, and reporting of test campaigns
Support with the integration of learnings (e.g. typical error pattern) from the sensor integration in the verification and release testing methods and processes

Relevant years of industry experience, preferably in the diagnostic field of Blood Gas measurement systems
Advanced scientific or engineering degree is preferred but not required
Proven experience and expertise in the development and integration of multifunctional components of medical devices
Experience integrating multiple sensors into one cartridge following requirements from various disciplines like mechanical construction, microfluidics, and material science
Experience with hands-on component analysis and functional verifications
Strong analytical ability, attention to detail is instrumental to success.
Highly skilled in interacting with internal and external partners
Experience in technical project management
Fluent in English written and spoken, German is an advantage
