Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Business support and project/program management to guide leadership teams, program teams, committees and other groups of people that engage in decision-making and achievement of shared business objectives set by senior managers and executives.

Technical Program Management responsibilities: 

  • Lead iterative delivery of strategic cross-functional initiatives from concept to ship, through focus, transparency, communication, visibility, and accountability

  • Leverage deep technical expertise with large-scale, distributed 24x7 production systems to build comprehensive plans, to identify risks, and to ensure smooth project launches with a goal of delighting our stakeholders

  • Partner with engineering, product, and business leadership to build highly collaborative teams and to enhance communication across teams and stakeholders

  • Leverage your expertise to identify and define the most critical priorities and establish best practices for the team.

  • Identify and resolve systemic issues impacting Roche engineering and proactively take action to resolve

  • Work with software developers to schedule development, write functional specifications, and drive decision-making to build well-performing, stable systems

  • Act as overall lead in driving technical discussions and solutions to business and/or customer requirements

  • Drive all phases of the product development life cycle including design, development, testing, and deployment, while collaborating with other internal teams and groups

  • Participate in initial requirements review and analysis to assess technical complexity to identify and resolve dependencies

  • Provide ongoing visibility into the progress, risks, schedules, and timelines of the features in development

  • Develop and manage end-to-end implementations toward technical and regulatory standards as well as expected delivery dates

  • Manage and represent various work-streams, acting as a focal point for the program

  • Manage complex inter-team dependencies and bridge the gaps in technical management

  • Collaborate with many different resources from across the Genentech/Roche organization

  • Partner with cross functional partners in Product Management, Design, Data Science and Engineering to enable delivery of the highest impact work

  • Provide visibility and transparency into the portfolio of technical product initiatives

  • Improve team productivity by removing obstacles and keeping processes lean

  • Maintain urgency by ensuring there is strong collaboration within multiple parts of the business

  • Regularly assess risks and opportunities; understand best practices, drive for process improvements, and find new ways of operating, with a focus on simplification and productivity.

  • Act as the operational lead for a PHC-related program or project assignment and/or project manager for functional new capability development or improvement projects

Skills/Abilities/Experience:

  • Experience with managing large cross-functional projects with technical depth across time zones

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects iteratively with multiple dependencies and constraints, in a highly dynamic and agile environment

  • Proven ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams in situations of extreme ambiguity, with only high-level direction

  • Experience building technical product roadmaps, release plans, project plans with a thorough understanding of dependency management

  • Ability  to communicate highly technical problems and solutions at all levels from engineer to partner to C-level executives

  • Ability  to influence, negotiate and inspire others in a matrixed environment Excellent organization, planning skills, and attention to detail

  • Experience delivering projects in large-scale, distributed production systems with an understanding of production operations

  • Experience compiling and presenting business & technology options, backed by data & experimentation, to decision makers

  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.

  • Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle from concept to delivery

  • Proven track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex, cross functional technical product initiatives

  • Ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions. You can take a vague problem, crisply frame the challenge, identify a path forward, and drive an initiative over the finish-line.

  • Experience developing and instituting process where little exists, and demonstrated flexibility to get things done

  • Detail-oriented and able to understand the bigger picture by using your technical expertise and problem solving abilities to prioritize and manage blocking issues

  • Ability to ramp up quickly and learn new technologies and concepts with minimal lag time

  • Excellent written and oral business communication and people skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders

  • Comfortable presenting in large groups and handling high-pressure communication with senior management

  • Ability to quickly triage and prioritize out-of-cadence requests/issues

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where you need to quickly adjust to shifting priorities

  • Strong technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem-solving abilities

  • Deep understanding of product design and implementation details and will successfully represent the technical product team to senior leadership and customers

  • Leverage your technical acumen and operational excellence to influence team decisions and drive secure and robust solutions which have great customer experience

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Technical Program Management and Project Management experience delivering large-scale, world-class consumer digital experiences.

  • Experience with agile methodologies, including experience with scrum master and product owner roles

  • Strong communication, cross-group collaboration, and interpersonal skills

  • Prior experience as a product manager, software engineer or software tester

  • BA/BS/BSE in computer science, math, or equivalent experience

  • Experience working in Digital Health preferred

  • 2+ years of technical product management, software engineering, data science, or systems engineering experience preferred

  • Ability to travel internationally up to 15%
