The Opportunity:

As the District Sales Manager, you will have accountability for sales of the company’s products and services to a wide range of customers and accounts within an assigned geography.  You and your team will promote the organization's products, solutions and services to, and maintain relationships with, multiple customers and accounts.  This will involve a range of products and services, inclusive of but not limited to Blood Glucose Meters and related supplies, Integrated Diabetes Management Solutions and future pipeline assets.

You and your team will manage sales activities for multiple accounts, many of which will have complex requirements.   

You will be responsible for significant key partner relationship management and development.  The range of such customers will include individual health care professionals, medical groups, integrated delivery networks, retail, managed care and employers.  You are responsible for assisting in strategy development for your assigned accounts and ensure the strategy is executed. You will have the opportunity to develop relationships in account types that may be new to the Roche focus (i.e. Employer, Coalitions).

You will also be responsible for all aspects of staff and performance management.  You will interact with sales leadership to communicate sales performance and collaborate with marketing to implement promotional strategies and to monitor competitive activity. 

The District Sales Manager should have broad expertise and unique knowledge, use skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative, compliant and effective way.  You will have complete knowledge of all company products and services and may be tasked with sales/development of new or strategic products/solutions/services. You will work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. You will exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

You will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.

  • Achievement of sales targets
  • Selects, trains and provides ongoing feedback to direct reports
  • Provides front line coaching and feedback based on customer interactions
  • Assumes a leadership role in establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with key high value customers to continually enhance overall revenues
  • Promotes cross-functional communication, strategy and tactical planning to solve challenges and maximize revenue generation
  • Understands market conditions and trends, develops long term strategies and provides recommendations to leadership which may include the creation and delivery of presentations
  • Contributes and provides information to leadership regarding probability of sales, emerging customer issues and competitor data as observed in area of responsibility
  • Provides necessary administrative reports while overseeing budgets and expenses

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years relevant sales or equivalent experience with demonstrated success 
  • 1-2 years management or equivalent leadership experience with demonstrated strong competency and proven track record in sales management and leadership
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including making impactful presentations
  • Negotiation, contracting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work within a regulated environment
  • Strategic planning and organizational skills
  • High levels of sales proficiency and/or industry specific experience

Preferred Skills:

  • 7+ years relevant sales or equivalent experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including making impactful presentations
  • Proven leadership abilities
