Lead Systems Engineer / Systems Architect for Digital Diagnostics

Roche Diagnostics set the strategic objective to be “A leader in Digital Diagnostics”. Working towards this goal, we have an ever expanding portfolio of Digital Diagnostics products from development teams across the diagnostics organization. 

We know that interoperability and reusability are key enablers for us to deliver on our intent, to increase development efficiency, to decrease time-to-market, and to enhance the customer experience. As such, we are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer / Systems Architect to work within defined workstreams of the Digital Diagnostics Solution Area.

In this role your main responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • To maintain a technical overview of the Solution Area
  • To lead the creation of technical solution design & architecture artefacts within specific workstreams. This shall include:
    • To conduct appropriate functionality decomposition & allocation
    • To conduct appropriate trade-off analysis
    • To define and document appropriate interfacing concepts
    • To identify and document technical limitations
    • To ensure the technical feasibility of the solution design & architecture
  • To ensure correct & complete integration, within specific workstreams, of systems at solution level (solution = system of systems)
  • To contribute to and assist in the elicitation of Solution-Level Requirements
  • To provide Solution Reference Scenarios
  • To contribute to the creation of the Solution Test Strategy
  • To lead solution risk identification and assessment processes within specific workstreams
  • To ensure that solution risks are appropriately covered within relevant test campaigns
  • To provide technical/engineering input into the solution roadmap, timeline identification, and budgeting processes
  • To define simulation concepts for new and existing elements within the solution area
  • To ensure domain knowledge transfer to program, project or component groups

In order to fulfill the requirements of the role, you should bring the following experience/skill-set:

  • University degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Experience in technical project management
  • Several years of experience in Cloud Computing Architecture preferably with experience in the Healthcare Industry
  • Experience in defining the architecture of complex systems 
  • Ability to lead by influence and to drive decisions
  • Willingness to travel and collaborate with our colleagues in the Bay Area
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
