Head of DIA Common Assets
Who we are:
Solution Integration & Services (SIS) develops workflow and IT solutions that integrate diagnostics instruments, software and systems for laboratory diagnostics - and provides global service and support for Roche Diagnostics (DIA) products and customers. Within that context, DIA Common Assets (DCA) develops - as the name implies - common assets. These assets are in the form of software libraries or development frameworks that can be and are used to build diagnostics instrument software or lab IT middleware with a focus on reuse, i.e. solve a common problem once and apply the solution many times.
The DIA Common Assets delivery organization is structured according to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe ⓒ) and consists of several agile release trains (ARTs). The line organization is structured according to capabilities. The capability leads together with the Head of DIA Common Assets lead the organization as the leadership team (strategy, people, processes) and as portfolio committee (top level portfolio guidance and decisions). With the adoption of SAFe an agile journey has been started which shall be continued and further refined. The members of DIA Common Assets (~80 internal / ~70 external) are located in Sant Cugat, Spain and Rotkreuz, Switzerland.
The open position for the Head of DIA Common Assets is leading and accountable for the whole organization and will be based in Rotkreuz, Switzerland.
Your main tasks consist of:
End to end accountability for the DIA Common Assets delivery – including the capability as well as the delivery organization, processes, the project and cost center budget in Rotkreuz and Sant Cugat
Actively represent DIA Common Assets to the outside as well as inside – ensuring communication
Direct and cross-site leadership and line management of the DIA Common Assets Leadership Team
Ensure and foster an environment where teams can act self-organized and self-managed – giving control into the organization while providing the clarity through clear vision & strategic directions and goal/expectation setting coming from the DIA Common Assets leadership team
Develop and maintain relationships and effectively manage stakeholders across the Diagnostics Division, understand their needs and find common grounds and compromises for the DIA Common Assets which allow our stakeholders to reach their project goals faster and more cost efficient
Ensure the capability organization to further mature the needed skills to solidify the agile journey - act as a servant leader growing the people in the organization to deliver in self-organized and self-managed ARTs
Ensure cross-Capability and cross-ART (agile release train) alignment as appropriate, prevent silo thinking from happening
Institutionalize Gemba walks (“management by walking around”) – participate in Capability Syncs, PI planning, Inspect and Adapt, …
Leader of the DIA Common Assets Leadership Team and Portfolio Committee – act as a sounding board and supports removing impediments if they cannot be solved in the teams
Contributing and driving the future of the organization as a member of the (supervisory) DIA Governance & Services Leadership Team
We are seeking a candidate with many years (10+) of R&D experience in the industry and more specifically in the software industry. To be successful in this role, you need to bring:
Strong Leadership personality and proven leading leaders experience, with a people focus - coach and servant leader with excellent moderation and facilitation skills
Sense for effectiveness and efficiency in product development - ensures a sense of urgency and ensures things get done
Visionary & strategic mindset with the ability to understand and phrase the challenges to be solved by the people in the organization
Experienced in organizational change management
Excellent networker and influencer
Familiar with and strongly supportive of collaborative, lean and agile software development practices, ideally knowledgeable in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Excellent verbal and written English skills. Good verbal command of German or Spanish is a plus.
University or higher technical college (e.g. Fachhochschule) degree in Engineering or equivalent
Experience in the medical technology domain is a plus
