Meet Feifei Wei, International Business Leader in Point of Care at Roche Diagnostics
Tell us a bit about yourself
I was born in Shanghai, China. By the time I graduated from university in my hometown, my dream was to study and work abroad. So I went to Japan to purse my MBA. After graduation, I found a sales job in a global diagnostic company. For the last ten years, I have worked and lived in different parts of the world, including Japan, Singapore, US, and now Switzerland. I have a wonderful family, two lovely children. I enjoy spending time with my family in my leisure time. As a “newly discovered” hobby, I started to paint oil paintings a few years ago. Painting helped me to achieve a better inner balance in the face of busy corporate and family life.
In which Roche location are you currently working and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?
I work at the Rotkreuz campus. Roktreuz is the global headquarters of Roche Diagnostics. It is home to more than 2,500 Roche employees and is still expanding rapidly!
The site is highly international. You can find more than 40 nationalities here. No matter where you are from, you will easily make friends with people who speak your mother tongue. And, you can also survive here without speaking a word of German! Although, personally, I would not mind working in a more challenging language environment which forces you to improve German faster.
Why did you decide to join Roche and why at this location?
The reason behind my decision to join Roche was a simple one. I was looking for a job opportunity in Singapore and the offer from Roche Diagnostics Asia Pacific office came along. Looking back, this turned out to be a great career decision!
After having worked in Singapore for 3 years, I took on my 1st international assignment with Roche and went back to Japan. After finishing the assignment in Japan, I took a global position in Rotkreuz and moved here with my family.
What is your current position at Roche?
I am an International Business Leader for Roche Professional Diagnostics Division, with a focus on Hospital Point-of-Care products. Together with 7 international product managers, our team manages quality, supply, and commercial execution of our existing hospital point-of-care products. We are also working on assessing business opportunities for future R&D projects.
How would you describe Roche as an employer?
Roche is a great company to work for. Beyond all the hard facts which speak for the world-class work environment, career opportunity, and the wide range of benefits Roche offers its employees, Roche also values and cares deeply about its people. What came to my mind as an analogy is, Roche is like a person with a gentle soul.
How would you describe the people working here?
People at Roche are not only highly professional in their work, they are also positive, inspiring and open-minded. Despite being a company with 85,000 employees worldwide, you still get a home-like feeling at Roche, because you are surrounded by so many great people with whom you connect at a personal level. Roche is home to “good people”.
What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?
If you are looking for the opportunity to work in a multicultural environment with a range of development opportunities, Roche is the right employer for you. Just have a look at our open positions at careers.roche.ch and submit your application online.
