Meet Mario, Global IT Infrastructure Service Delivery Manager

career blog

Hi, my name is…

…Mario and I started my life in the beautiful capital city of Spain, Madrid. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife since 2003 and we have two kids, aged 8 and 10. In my spare time, I love travelling to new places with my family, snorkeling on the beach, going to the cinema, playing sports and more.

When I was younger, I loved to play basketball although that hobby has now been replaced by scuba diving. My favorite scuba diving trip to date has been Mexico and I look forward to diving in the Red Sea soon! My Roche adventure started only one year ago in the Roche Diabetes Care organization, which meant moving myself and my family from Madrid to Barcelona. In my previous life, I worked in IT Consulting for over 15 years, specifically Infrastructure Services.

My typical day at work is…

…Amazing, challenging and box of surprises! Roche Diabetes Care IT is a dynamic and innovative organization that is changing at a record breaking pace meaning that every day brings a new challenge and opportunity to learn. We work hard in Diabetes Care IT to come up with the most innovative solutions to support the Diabetes Care business. Being part of an ongoing transformation program means that I never get bored!

The location I am working at is…

…Sant Cugat which is right next to the wonderful city of Barcelona. Moving from Madrid to the Barcelona area has been a wonderful experience. This is thanks to the multicultural spirit, the fact that it is close to the sea and has incredible museums and art galleries.

My work helps Roche to…

Function seamlessly from an IT perspective via the deployment of necessary IT infrastructure thus helping Diabetes Care as a business to do now what patients need next.

Roche as an employer is…

…fantastic. I get to work in a multicultural environment with colleagues from all around the world as well as being able to travel often to really understand how Roche operates at a local level. They really promote a work life balance allowing you to enjoy not only having great colleagues in the office but also giving me time to enjoy the Barcelona area with my family and friends.

How would you describe working at Roche in three words?

Best Opportunity Ever

What do you do to help balance life and work?

I always work hard at the office but as soon as I am with my family they have my full attention.
