Meet Christine, Product Manager
Tell us a bit about yourself
I grew up in Paris (France) and studied chemistry, galenic formulation and healthcare management. After working in scientific research in various countries like Vietnam, France and the Netherlands, I decided to pursue my career in marketing in small, medium-sized and large global pharmaceutical organizations in Vietnam.
In my spare time, I enjoy travelling with my friends, and practicing martial arts, tennis, and dancing.
In which Roche location do you currently work and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?
I currently work at Roche Pharma Vietnam in the highest tower of Ho Chi Minh City on the 26th floor. It offers a great 360-degree view on the city and the Saigon River with amazing sunsets. The skyscraper is located in the heart of the center’s business and entertainment district and includes restaurants, coffees, shopping center, cinema, viewing platform and helipad.
Why did you decide to join Roche and why at this location?
I joined Roche for its excellent pipeline and reputation in oncology and specialty care. Its strong investment in R&D and solid foundation of ethics and integrity were important choice factors as it offers first-class therapies for patients in a compliant environment.
I visited my family in Vietnam several times and loved it every time when I went on vacation there. So I moved from France to Vietnam to get to know my family more but also to rediscover the culture and was eager for adventures and challenges in an emerging market. I was also curious to work with different types of people in a different environment.
Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant agglomeration of 12 million citizens. The energy, commerce and culture are omnipresent and many nationalities are represented.
What is your current position at Roche?
I am the Product Manager for products of gastric cancer, ovarian and cervical cancer. What excites me every day is the diversity of tasks my job requires as well as the difference we can make for patients and medical staff with innovative healthcare solutions we provide. I also enjoy working with my colleagues who are so friendly.
How would you describe Roche as an employer?
Roche is a great place to work. It offers development opportunities such as training courses and gives us the possibility to interact with global functions and other affiliates in the APAC region. It gives you all the tools you need to work effectively, recognizes your efforts and achievements and brings out the best in you.
The Representative office of Roche Pharma Vietnam is a fast growing organization and job opportunities are definitely not lacking, which gives the possibility to develop one’s competencies and leadership.
Roche cares for its employees’ well-being and provides breakfast, fruits and medical services. I also get to play tennis with my colleagues on Saturday, which is part of the “Live Well” program that promotes work-life balance.
How would you describe the people working here?
I work in a great environment with skilled and passionate colleagues who all fight for patients. Working in a friendly and respectful atmosphere is also a major factor of motivation as people do not hesitate to support me whenever I need it.
We are also very close and hang out outside of work.
How is your job connected to “doing now what patients need next”
Patients are definitely in the center of what we do each day. We ensure to provide the most up-to-date data to physicians and medical staff and contribute to their educational developments in order for them to have the best tools to diagnose and treat their patients. We also work on patient access programs with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health to allow cancer patients gain access to our medicines and extend their duration of treatment.
