Meet Luisa J.
Tell us a bit about yourself:
My name is Luisa and I am from Bogota, Colombia. I have lived in the U.S. for 11 years and I love Indianapolis. I am married, have three wonderful children by marriage and a wonderful boxer-mastiff that takes the place of the baby in our household. I enjoy seeing new places and taking pictures of everything around me – to me it’s like stopping time.
Why did you decide to join Roche?
A friend of mine works at Roche and she always talked wonders about her workplace. Even when talking to people who did not work at Roche, they would always refer to it as a great place to work. Throughout my career I always aspired to find a place that I felt proud to work at, so when the opportunity to work at Roche was presented to me, I said yes in a heartbeat.
What is your current job?
At the Indianapolis site , we have the Employee Service Center that serves about 24, 000 employees from both Diagnostics and Pharma. Within the Employee Service Center, I have the role of “Workforce Administration Specialist”.
There are a total of 10 specialists in our group. Our job is to process personnel administration and organizational management requests, and maintain them in our Common Human Resources Information Solution. My job requires me to constantly use skills like problem-solving, prioritization and attention to detail.
During a typical workday, I may enter a new-hire packet, create or delete position numbers, rename an organizational unit, update employee addresses, or process an employee transfer.
What makes it a great place to work?
The people I work with. From my first day at Roche I felt that I was valued and respected as an individual. Feeling respected by my colleagues and supervisors is what drives me to do my job well and enjoy it while I do it. I have always felt safe and encouraged to speak up and bring up new ideas.
Roche is a company that not only cares about its employees, but also wants to make an impact on the community. I value the involvement they have with different organizations and how they encourage us to do the same. I volunteered for the first time in my life while working at Roche.
What would you advice job seekers who want to join us?
I have seen firsthand the opportunities that Roche has to offer and the quality of people that join it. When one commits and works hard it is important to be recognized and to make a difference. It is just as important to become a part of a company that recognizes you and allows you to make a difference - Roche has this quality.
