Meet Leo

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Leo and I’m going into my senior year at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis studying Communications with minors in philosophy, psychology, and music technology.  I enjoy making music and watching standup comedy. Some of my hobbies include reading, meditation, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, exercise, and yoga.

In which Roche location are you currently working and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?

I am currently working at the Roche Molecular Diagnostics Branchburg location which has been a pretty awesome experience. The site has some very interesting processes with equally interesting technology to help them go smoothly. Overall the whole Branchburg team has been quite welcoming and supportive during my time here. I am very grateful to be spending my internship time here at Roche, as there is so much to learn.

Why did you decide to choose Roche for your internship?

I chose Roche because of its superior reputation in the global marketplace. As a Communications major I was interested in seeing firsthand how an organization like this functions, how they stay so highly competitive, and who are the types of people that run such a global powerhouse.

How would you describe your internship?

My internship is quite the assortment of different tasks within Human Resources and Communications. I am helping with everything from organizing digital files in a way that increases productivity; to handling logistics for the summer interns here at Branchburg, as well as creating media that promotes the culture here at Roche.

What do you like best about your experience so far?

The scope of the work has really been great during this summer internship. I am able to get a wide variety of work that helps me understand how large successful organizations function, and what is the fuel behind such innovation and prolific development.

What advice would you give future students who want to join us?

My advice for future students who are interested in joining Roche would be to not be afraid to get your feet wet and jump right into the experience. I would also recommend an open mind and willingness to contribute in situations where you see you have something to add.
