Just after Stacie-Ann graduated from college, she took a position at Roche as an operations technical support scientist. Seventeen years later, Stacie-Ann is enjoying her new role as the Director of Global Quality and Compliance for the Diagnostics Division.
Looking back, Stacie-Ann’s work at Roche has had her working in varied groups from, Operations, Complaints, Quality Compliance, and now a global Quality position. Her bosses and mentors provided solid guidance, advice and encouraged her to stretch herself into new and challenging roles.
After developing my skills in my role, I was surprised that my manager was almost telling me to change groups and leave the team. However, his goal for me was to learn something new, step outside of my comfort zone and stretch my abilities. I thank him for that to this day!
The jump to a global role was significant and has allowed Stacie to further expand her network and her skills. Without clear guidance, mentoring and thoughtful consideration of her personal goals that helped her guide her progress through the organization, Stacie-Ann may not have explored some of her various moves.
I’ve had incredible support from my managers, the organization and my peers, - she said. - It’s been an incredible journey and I’ve loved the 17 years I’ve had with Roche. I’ve been fulfilled and supported in my career and I look forward to another great 17 years!

Looking back, Stacie-Ann’s work at Roche has had her working in varied groups from, Operations, Complaints, Quality Compliance, and now a global Quality position.
Along the way, Stacie’s managers have supported her growth. When she had the chance to move from Complaints to Quality her manager encouraged her to take the new opportunity to broaden her experiences.
The move from Operations to the Complaints team felt like a significant one that took Stacie-Ann outside of her comfort zone. Her prior positions were all internal-facing, and now, she was public-facing needing to find a balance between technical skills, people skills, and customer service with an audience outside of Roche. She found that her new position required a change in mindset to do the work successfully.
It was challenging, but there’s never been one role that I’ve said, oh yea– I can totally do this, so I took on the challenge – Stacie-Ann continued. – It’s good to push yourself and build new paths for your career – test your abilities and limits – I guarantee you, you can stretch and bend a lot more than you’d think! Don’t talk yourself out of an opportunity - you will always expand your knowledge and network.
