Meet Adam, Regulatory Affairs Manager at Pleasanton, CA
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am from Indianapolis Indiana and now living and working in California. My educational background is in Biochemistry with an MBA in Finance. I have previously worked in manufacturing operations, process improvement and have supported Regulatory Affairs for the past three plus years. I spend most of my free time enjoying the outdoors hiking, cycling, at the local wineries and at the dog park with my beagle-hound Jack.
What is your current position at Roche?
Manager, Regulatory Affairs
Why did you decide to join Roche?
I joined Roche in 2009 as an intern and hired on full-time in 2010. Roche is the world’s largest biotech company where the products impact peoples’ lives on a daily basis and the company has a culture that allows one to develop and grow.
My work helps Roche to….
quickly deliver safe and effective products to those in need across the globe.
How would you describe the culture and work environment at Roche?
Roche is ever focused on the patient and this is evident throughout the entire company. Roche has a culture that fosters innovation and personal growth by supporting open and honest dialogue, having a continuous drive for improvement and creating a community based on trust that allows for appropriate risks to be taken.
What distinguishes the Roche culture from the culture at other companies you have worked for?
Every day I come to work, I honestly feel like I can make a positive impact on a global scale. In a lot of other companies there is pressure and an expectation to “do it the same way it has always been done” and to simply just sustain. Roche has a culture and produces products that motivate me to continuously improve and allows me to see the impact that I can have.
How would you describe career development at Roche?
Career development is ultimately up to the individual and what he or she wants to do. Roche recognizes this and makes it easier by providing support, training and opportunities for each individual to grow.
What has been your biggest opportunity to date within Roche?
I was promoted to a role in California to support the most regulated products in Diagnostics. My wife and I moved across the country , became settled quickly and now I have been working on products that only a few companies in the world produce.
How would you describe working at Roche in three words?
Exciting, motivating, rewarding.
What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?
I would advise job seekers to look for any opportunity to work at Roche. In a little over seven years I have worked for three different business areas within the Roche Group, in three separate business functions, have traveled across the globe and have relocated across the country. There are countless internal opportunities to grow within your career once you are a part of Roche.
