Lesley in Pharmaceutical Compliance

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 20 years in a variety of roles including sales, management, training, and now Healthcare Compliance. Outside of work I love to spend time with my family; my husband and two teenage children. My passion is my horses and riding, and I enjoy holidays and travel.

Where did you study?

I read Environmental Biology at the University of Liverpool

In which Roche location are you currently working and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?

I work at Hexagon Place in Welwyn Garden City, a modern, well equipped spacious office with a new conference centre and great facilities including a gym, a library, and excellent restaurant

Why did you decide to join Roche?

Roche is one of the top pharmaceutical companies in the UK and has one of the best product portfolios, both current and pipeline, in the industry, so it is a company that is growing and evolving. The company invests heavily in its people and so there are many opportunities for further career development and to expand the depth and breadth of skills and knowledge. I have been with Roche for 6 years and have had 3 roles in that time

What is your current position at Roche?

Senior Healthcare Compliance Manager and Training Lead within the Healthcare Compliance team

What makes it such a great job?

Working in Healthcare Compliance I have an overview of all types of business activity, and interact with many different functions and roles which makes my job very interesting. Every day is different as the work is very varied, and new challenges and projects arise all the time. It is also an extremely satisfying job as I am working with others to help find compliant solutions for them to achieve their business objectives

How would you describe the people working here?

Roche attracts top quality people who want to make a difference. Employees share a common goal and are very supportive of each other but equally can be challenging to ensure that work output is always of the highest quality

What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?

Thoroughly research the company using as many resources as you can but in particular try to talk to Roche employees who work in the function that you are applying to join. Come prepared for your interview as you will be put through your paces, but if you are successful in your application, the effort will have been worth it!

Roche is a great place to work because...

You are part of an organisation that is leading the way in the development of innovative medicines that make a positive difference to patients, which makes you feel that you are doing a worthwhile job. Also Roche gives everyone who works in the organisation the opportunity for personal and career development.
