Meet Maya, E-learning Team Leader at Roche in Rotkreuz
Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Maya and I lead the e-learning team for Global Customer Support at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. I joined Roche in October 2013 as an e-learning specialist. Looking back, I clearly see that following my passion is what brought me here.
After university I worked as a high school teacher in biology and mathematics. Since my main interests have always encompassed both education and new technologies, I decided to enhance my professional skills with a master’s degree in e-learning and knowledge management. This opened the doors for various positions to which I was able to apply my know-how, including a university, a software company and a global bank.
I am very happy that now, with Roche, I am able to apply my expertise in the field of human sciences.
In which Roche location do you currently work and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?
I work in Rotkreuz. Surrounded by two lakes and mountains, it is an amazingly beautiful and modern place to work offering all the necessary amenities such as a subsidised restaurant with a sunny terrace, electrically adjustable desks, light sunny offices and free parking spaces.
What is your current position at Roche?
I am leading the e-learning team for Global Customer Support at Roche Diagnostics. We work together with the business areas as well as country organisations to meet their e-learning needs. We analyse requirements, develop innovative and creative online courses designed for Roche employees and customers. These courses cover our products and the background medical skills needed to use those products.
I am in constant contact with stakeholders from different business areas on a daily basis to help them with their e-learning requirements. On top of that, I’m responsible for increasing the awareness about the e-learning topic in general within the Diagnostics Division.
How would you describe Roche as an employer?
From my point of view Roche is a state-of-the-art employer that takes good care of its people. We have a very friendly and international working environment. I never feel like a number in a system, although Roche is such a huge employer.
How would you describe the people working here?
Diverse, friendly, motivated!
How is your job connected to “doing now what patients need next”?
I believe that continuous education brings benefits to patients. Our e-learning solutions allow Roche to pass on much needed knowledge to employees and the users of our diagnostics products, with the advantage that it can be accessed anywhere, anytime to help patients. In addition it helps to keep our CO2 footprint to a minimum.
