Meet Martynas, product manager Lithuania
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I am a 32-year-old biochemist working as a product manager for a life-saving medicine. That is a dream job, because my first wish, after I finished my secondary education, was to become a doctor and help people. Well, it didn’t happen, because at the same time I wanted to be a rock star… so I was learning to play drums for seven years at music school. So now I have good hobby.
Where did you study?
I studied Biochemistry in Vilnius University.
In which Roche location are you currently working? What can you tell us about that location?
I am now working in Roche Lithuania, in Vilnius. This is the capital city of Lithuania and it is a very beautiful place. Legend says that it was founded by Grand Duke Gediminas in 1323, but the truth is that it just became a capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania at that time. So we have a very beautiful old town which is a UNESCO heritage site, with a lot of baroque churches and a castle.
Why did you decide to join Roche?
I was working for another pharmaceutical company and was looking for career growth opportunities. So I applied for the position in Roche, because they are a multinational company which gave me the opportunity to interact with and learn from people around the world and to grow as a specialist.
What is your current job?
I am a product manager for one of the great Roche oncology products. Usually I do all the planning for upcoming events, conferences and materials and e-marketing projects. I also visit my clients and talk to them in order to understand their needs, fears, expectations. This information helps to develop new strategies to serve them and to clarify how treatments are being prescribed and what’s the performance of the product.
What makes it such a great job?
The people you work with, the experiences you get. Innovation and acceptance of new ideas is the norm.
Can you pick one of the attributes of Roche and explain in detail what they mean to you?
It‘s hard to pick one. It’s an interesting job with good development and future career opportunities in a big multinational company.
Roche is a great place to work because
it helps to reach new frontiers and realize opportunities for yourself and for the people you work with.
How would you describe the people working here?
Friendly, professional and passionate about their jobs.
What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?
Be confident about yourself, be passionate about your job, be open-minded and don’t be afraid.
Thanks for your story!
