Meet Birute, key account manager Lithuania

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am the mother of two children – totally dedicated to my family. Nevertheless my job is also very important for me. I feel good working hard in order to reach my goals – both at work and in life. I like working in Roche. Working in Roche means having a meaningful purpose to your work. I feel I am expanding horizons and growing professionally here.

My (and my family’s) biggest hobby is travelling and learning the culture and way of life of different nations.

Where did you study?

I studied biology (bachelor’s degree) and genetics (master’s degree) at Vilnius University, the oldest and biggest University in Lithuania, founded in 1579.

In which Roche location are you currently working?

I am working in Lithuania (the Baltic States region). This is a very nice place to live and work – green environment, simple, friendly and open people.

Why did you decide to join Roche?

It was my long-time wish to join this reputable and strong company. I did not know the details about all the company’s products, but I have had contacts with Roche representatives and the company seemed to me very well-structured, and I also heard appreciative comments of customers and Roche competitors on the quality of Roche products. There was a vacant position of PCR product specialist in Roche, ODG Baltics (Operational Divisional Group Baltics). I thought it was a very good position to develop my knowledge in genetics and I applied to this position. I was not successful in that position, but I was offered another one.

What is your current job?

I am responsible for the development and implementation of plans for specialty testing, including hematology, urine and lab coagulation. I am also a key account manager for two large accounts. My day- to-day activities are hematology application support for customers, customer visits, market analysis, preparation of contracts, reporting, etc.

What makes it such a great job?

Roche is a highly innovative company seeking to help people (patients). It is very well organized/structured, and it is a multinational company. The company respects people and the environment.

Can you pick one of the attributes of Roche and explain in detail what they mean to you?

I very much agree on that respect for every individual is very important. Not only the result is important but also how this result was achieved and what impact will it have on environment.

Please complete the following sentence:

Roche is a great place to work because people gain an enormous amount of valuable experience here, and opportunities to develop oneself are the best you can ever expect.

How would you describe the people working here?

Highly professional in work, and nice in life.

What would you advise job seekers who want to join us?

Do your best in order to get a position in the company if you are committed and ready to work hard.

Thanks for your story!
