Meet Pankaj, Associate Director – Audit and Compliance at Roche India
Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Pankaj and I was born and raised in India, however, I have spent most of my time working in Australia. My career started as an Auditor with a small audit firm. Since, I was inclined towards law profession, academically I have completed my law degree from India and Masters in Professional Accounting from Australia. As a person, I inherently believe that trust, discipline, being genuine and inclusiveness is the key to success.
Sportsman spirit definitely defines me as a person. Infact in my spare time, I enjoy playing badminton and any form of sports with my kids, watching movies and cooking.
In which Roche location do you currently work and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?
I work with Roche India in Mumbai – one of the fast-paced cities in the country. I enjoy coming to work every day and easily connect with my colleagues in a positive and collaborative manner. As a function, Compliance offers me a platform to connect across various functions and be a trusted business partner to all colleagues irrespective of the function they belong to.
What I really enjoy doing at Roche is bring the broader vision on risks and be a solution provider not only on healthcare compliance matters but also ensuring adherence to Roche Group Code of Conduct.
Why did you decide to join Roche and why at this location?
Roche stands out as an organization for me due to our strong sustainability commitment and focus being not only on innovation but also a commitment towards building a better organization that contributes to society.
This role was advertised on the Roche Career webpage and due to my recent move back to India, I was keen to join Roche and be a part of the journey and contribute towards a good cause that impacts the community/society beyond just producing innovative medicines.
What is your current position at Roche?
I am part of the Finance Team, working as Associate Director – Audit and Compliance. Amongst various responsibilities the key ones are adherence to Roche Group Code of Conduct. Healthcare Compliance, Investigation and Audit. In my tenure of last 17 months, I have been able to shift the needle where colleagues believe that Compliance is an enabler and not a hindrance.
The compliance champions program within Roche India has helped shape the compliance mindset at the middle management level and doing things right the first time.
Recently my team has expanded to a two (2) member team who come from different functional backgrounds such as Financial Planning and Medical Affairs & Regulatory which brings depth and variety to the function.
