Dual studies student dares to take a peek outside of the box
Joshua Dröschel is the first dual studies student at Roche in Germany who was able to participate in an exchange between Pharma and Diagnostics during the practical training. In the following he tells us about his experiences.
“I have been studying dual business studies - health management since 2014 in cooperation with the company Roche Diagnostics GmbH in Mannheim. I chose the dual studies system because above all it distinguishes itself through the combination of scientific studies and business practice and I was therefore already able to acquire practical experience during the training.
Dual studies students usually spend their practical time at Roche in one division, which in my case is Roche Diagnostics. But in 2017, within the scope of the practical phase I had the opportunity to complete my bachelor thesis at the company Roche Pharma AG in Grenzach. The subject of my bachelor thesis was the development of a guideline for successful Content Marketing, which over the long term is intended to support the creation and design of online content.
Hereby I was able to cooperate with numerous different responsible individuals on the local and global level, but at the same time was also able to develop my own ideas and approaches for the further implementation.
As I spent the major part of my dual studies at Roche Diagnostics and Roche Diabetes Care in Mannheim, the insight into Roche Pharma AG was a very diversified, valuable and enriching experience. I had the opportunity to acquire a better understanding about our pharma product portfolio and internal processes. I found the interrelation between diagnostic tests and oncological therapies very impressive. Apart from this I was able to meet very many helpful and motivating colleagues who made it possible for me to adjust to the new area very quickly.
I can personally recommend every dual studies student to take a peek outside of the box."
