Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Christina and I was born and raised in Athens, Greece. I went to university in Athens and in London and I have been working in the HR field for the past 15 years with experience in consulting, banking and pharma sectors. I recently joined Roche in Germany coming also from the pharma industry and having worked in the past in a European role based in Amsterdam, Holland and local roles in Greece. This is my first job in Germany and I enjoy it a lot because people here are really open, friendly, fun and drinking a lot of beer:)).
In which Roche location do you currently work and what can you tell us about that location as a work environment?
I work in Roche, Grenzach in the South of Germany a perfect location between Germany, France and Switzerland. The site is amazing near the river Rhine with a lot of trees and green and it is near Basel and Freiburg which makes it ideal for outdoor activities, excursions and sport. Basel is a cultural city where there is a lot going on like music festivals, opera, exhibitions and museums.
Why did you decide to join Roche?
First of all, I came here almost by accident:), my ex manager forwarded me the position through his network and asked me if I was interested, so after 2 -3 interviews I actually landed in Grenzach which is only 5 km away from Basel:). At the end it fulfilled my expectations to work in the strongest Roche Pharma Affiliate in Europe as well as in a leading international pharma company and near the headquarters. What I really enjoy here in Roche Grenzach is that I am part of various sports groups (Tae Bo and Crossfit), I can take a book or a DVD from our Library on the campus and enjoy the famous German sausages in the cantine. Also I truly believe that Roche is a company dedicated to offer to patients what they need.
Tell us about what you do in your current role at Roche?
I am Senior Manager in Learning & Organizational Development in HR with focus on the Leadership Development including Organization, Culture, Team and Individual Development of Leaders. I love to work together with people, being creative, giving advices and thinking out of the box, something like an internal consultant but also with a more personal touch. I am also in the Lead for Discover & Develop Workstream in Grenzach for The People Project (global project) with aim to change the mindset and the philosophy for Succession and Talent Management. Let´s really change and move into a more inclusive approach in the way we are handling potential in our company.
