Creating Opportunities: 12 external talents, 3-day workshop & an infinite number of impressions
Leadership, leadership potential and leadership competence – terms we often come across in day-to-day work, and which have now become an absolutely integral part of job advertisements for upcoming managers. But what exactly is behind this? Roche Diagnostics chose altogether twelve Master’s degree students and doctoral students out of a large number of excellent applicants and enabled these students to participate in a three-day workshop at Roche’s site in Mannheim. The twelve external talents with major fields of study in engineering sciences, natural sciences and economics got the unique opportunity to experience the company at first hand. They were able to gain insights into the exciting leadership topic together with experts.
In the process, not only did the twelve participants get valuable insights into the company and Roche’s leadership culture, but they also benefitted from the exchange with in-house specialists and managers. Within the framework of a wide variety of tasks, they got to know the theoretical basics of leadership. Afterwards, they were able to implement their knowledge in practical exercises and test them out. In doing so, the young talents particularly benefited from the experts’ valuable feedback. They were able to discover and further develop their potential over the course of the three-day workshop.
You could clearly see how enthusiastic the twelve talents were at the end of the workshop: "These days were a super opportunity to test yourself out in leadership and get to know Roche as a fantastic employer". That was what you heard with conviction among the participants. A win-win situation because talents like these could be the Roche employees of tomorrow.
