Us together in process

The project week of the apprentices and cooperative university students out of the 2nd year of training at the Mannheim, Berlin and Waiblingen sites was this year again keeping with the motto “Us-in-Process”.

A report by the apprentices and cooperative university students Nina S., Anouk H., Desiree G. and Jennifer T.

The central topics of the week were business processes and their significance for Roche and the work in the plant, laboratory and office. The project week was held in Centerpark in Medebach, where the apprentices competed against each other in groups of mixed professions.

With a theoretical introduction and practical group exercises, the apprentices were sensitized to the necessity of continuous process optimization. For this purpose, various real practical examples out of the world of Roche were discussed and optimization suggestions derived. In addition to diverse group exercises all around the topic of processes, techniques for process optimization, such as the Kanban system, were presented. As an expert in the area of idea management and the continuous improvement process (CIP), Rainer Schädlich (Head of Idea Management) enriched the week with valuable contributions.

The main activity of the week was a so called “48-hour task”. In this way, the creativity techniques for solving recognized problems of the day-to-day routine at Roche were enhanced. In addition to the development of theoretical foundations, the creative and artistic skills of the apprentices were also challenged.

Not only the group exercises, but also living together in small holiday apartments placed great emphasis on the cooperation, team spirit and reliability of the apprentices. By means of a diverse range of leisure activities and cooking all together in the evening, the group concept was able to be further expanded and strengthened.
